Join us tomorrow for Holy Eucharist at 10:15. We will hear of Moses climbing Mount Nebo, seeing the promised land spread before him, and dying, having delivered a people he will not himself lead in. This is a reminder that faithfulness is measured not by what we complete but by how we serve the purposes of God across a lifetime.
The psalm grounds us in that same long view; a thousand years in God's sight are like a watch in the night, and the work of our hands is only prosperous because the graciousness of the Lord is upon us.
Paul and his companions share not only the gospel but their very selves because the people entrusted to them have become dear to them.
Jesus strips the law to its irreducible core: Love God with everything you have and love your neighbor as yourself. On those two commandments, he says, hang all the law and the prophets.
