In Colossians 3:1-4, we are given instruction on how we are to pursue the Lord as believers. Since we have been risen to new life by the grace of the Gospel we are to live as new creatures seeking the praise of our glorious Savior!

In this week's midweek Bible study, we conclude our series through the seven letters to the seven churches. We study the church of Laodicea known for being lukewarm. What we see is the assessment of the Lord Jesus Christ that it was the spiritual pride which fueled their being lukewarm. May we be reminded to see our great need of Christ and be compelled to live passionately for the glory of His name!

As we open Colossians chapter 2, we see the Apostle Paul's struggle for the church. We see the Christ-honoring desires he has for the church and his investment in the body to walk in submission to Christ. As Christians, we must submit to the Lord for what He wants for our own lives and for the life of the local church. And, we must pursue this laboring with diligence for the glory of our Lord!

Christ gives much encouragement to this church body who is seeking to be faithful to Him. A healthy local church realizes all that it is comes from the grace of the Lord Jesus. What was Paul's goal in life as a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ? He sought to honor the Lord by making known the entire counsel of the Word of God. Our lives are to be devoted to the service of Christ by serving others. We should be both living according to and making known the entirety of God's Word. May this section of the Word of God stir our hearts to be faithful to Him!

In our midweek Bible study, we continuing working through the seven letters to the seven churches. We cover the letter to the church in Thyatira. This church was overly tolerant of evil and false teaching. There is much application for the church today to learn to cling to Christ, uphold the truth of His Word, and oppose that which is evil by proclaiming the full counsel of Scripture!

In this sermon, we look at the church in Pergamum. Christ commends them for standing firm in the midst of persecution. However, they needed to repent of falling prey to compromise with the world. We see Christ's encouragement and rebuke to the church, giving much application for us as Christians today!
