On Sunday, July 5th at 10:30 am, Calvary Baptist Church will again welcome Missionary Jim Price, who will share insights on the importance of translating Bibles into the native languages of nations lacking Scripture in their mother tongue. The service will highlight the urgent need for translators and showcase the work of individuals dedicated to this cause. A video presentation will precede a biblical challenge, and afterwards, attendees are invited to a food fellowship with pizza, providing a chance to interact with Jim and Ruth Price, who work alongside First Bible International. - Pastor

Cool creatures made by God the Master designer!!😊

The deep ocean is home to some of the most unusual creatures on Earth, but few are stranger than the barreleye fish (Macropinna microstoma).

Living thousands of feet below the surface, this small fish possesses a feature unlike almost any other vertebrate: a transparent head.

For years, scientists believed the barreleye's tube-shaped eyes were fixed in place and could only look upward. Then researchers made a surprising discovery. The eyes can actually rotate.

Most of the time, the fish points its eyes upward, scanning the dark waters above for the faint silhouettes and bioluminescent glow of potential prey. But when it is time to feed, the eyes rotate forward, allowing the fish to see what is directly in front of its mouth.

This is not merely a fish with unusual eyes. It is an entire visual system built for a specific purpose.

The transparent dome protects the eyes while allowing them to gather light. Green pigments within the eyes help filter and sharpen images in the dim deep-sea environment. The optic nerves enter the base of the eye in a way that minimizes twisting during rotation. Even the bones of the skull are positioned outside the transparent dome so they do not obstruct the fish's field of view.

Scientists believe these features help the barreleye locate and capture bioluminescent prey, including jellyfish and the organisms that drift among their tentacles. The fish can safely scan the waters above, identify glowing food sources, and move in to feed while its delicate eyes remain protected behind their transparent shield.

What makes the barreleye especially fascinating is that all of these features are interconnected. The rotating eyes depend on specialized nerves. The nerves depend on the eye structure. The eye structure depends on the transparent dome. The dome depends on the surrounding skull arrangement. Remove any major component and the system no longer functions as intended.

Evolutionists acknowledge that the barreleye's eyes are unlike those found in other vertebrates. Yet the challenge remains. How would a fish survive while slowly evolving a transparent head, rotating eyes, specialized filtering pigments, protective structures, and the nervous system needed to coordinate them all?

The barreleye fish doesn't merely possess a strange feature. It possesses a highly specialized visual system perfectly suited for life in one of the most difficult environments on Earth.

Far from pointing to blind chance, the barreleye fish reminds us of the wisdom and creativity of the One who made the oceans and filled them with life.

And of some have compassion making a difference. Jude 22 This is one of those verses that can help keep you and me living and going in the right direction, especially in difficulties and life's challenges. Be kind, be present if possible, be considerate, and you can be one of those who truly make a difference. In the home, at work, at the hospital or care facility, in the ambulance, or even in a jailhouse—wherever God puts you or you choose to be. Be involved in compassion ministry—mercy ministry. Share the burden, help lift the load, and bring cheer to those struggling in some way in life. I've been thrust into this complex, yet helpful and needful ministry. Shout out to every CNA, nurse, doctor, EMT worker, police officer, highway patrolman, counselor, sister or brother, or whoever you may be—thanks for making a difference! Keep caring even when it gets really tough; be one of those who make a difference. Pastor Paulson

John 9:1-3 has been on my mind for nearly two weeks now. The probable first reaction by most people to suffering is to think somebody sinned. I remember a time in my past when a pastor lost a son to a tragic death, and some Christians around me were quick to conclude that someone in the family was sinning or had sinned. What! I knew this family and thought, why do people jump to judgment or conclude someone sinned when something tragic happens to someone? The disciples thought that, Job's friends thought that too, and they were wrong. Jesus didn't berate these disciples but rather kindly corrected them, saying this is for the glory of God. Jesus taught that blindness from birth would bring Him glory. I'll admit that I once believed suffering was mainly because of the curse or because people sin or people sin against God, or for other common reasons like making poor choices. However, I am more convinced than ever that sometimes, maybe more than we think, suffering happens for the glory of God. Why suffering? To bring about good for others - Jesus and Joseph suffered to bring about life and good for others. To the disciples who saw a man blind from birth, their reasoning was there were but two answers to why this happened - parents sinned or the blind man sinned - nope, this man was born blind to bring glory to God.
