Effective threat prevention starts long before a crisis occurs. Recognizing concerning behaviors is only the first step. Knowing how to assess and respond appropriately is what turns awareness into meaningful action.

Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) training equips organizations with the knowledge and practical tools to identify potential threats, evaluate risk, and take coordinated, informed action.

Our latest case study highlights the importance of building these capabilities before they are needed, demonstrating how a proactive approach to training can strengthen an organization's ability to manage high-risk situations.

Threat management isn't just about responding to incidents. It's about building the knowledge, confidence, and processes to intervene early and support safer outcomes.

Effective threat assessment requires more than standardized tools. It requires an understanding of the individual behind the behavior.

AT-RISK International Senior Threat Assessment Specialist Aysha Lonich will be presenting an advanced session exploring the intersection of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) for the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) in Estes Park, Colorado.

As BTAM professionals increasingly encounter neurodiverse individuals in their caseloads, it's essential to recognize how traditional assessment approaches may overlook important behavioral context or lead to inaccurate conclusions.

We're proud to see Aysha contributing her expertise to this important conversation and helping advance more informed, effective, and equitable threat assessment practices.

Protests across Europe are creating an evolving security and operational environment, with further disruptions anticipated in the coming weeks.

AT-RISK International's Global Risk Intelligence (GRI) team is monitoring developments across the region, where rising living costs, economic pressures, and dissatisfaction with government responses are driving demonstrations.

The scale and severity of disruptions will depend on local conditions, government responses, and security measures.

For organizations with personnel, operations, or travel plans in Europe, situational awareness and contingency planning remain essential. Monitoring local developments, anticipating transportation disruptions, and avoiding large gatherings can help reduce exposure to evolving risks.

Executive protection is more than putting security measures in place. It's understanding why those measures are necessary. For organizations exploring IRS Section 132, an independent security assessment can be an important part of establishing a defensible executive protection program.

An independent assessment helps organizations:
• Identify and evaluate risks specific to key personnel
• Determine appropriate protective measures based on documented findings rather than assumptions
• Support informed decision-making with recommendations grounded in security needs
• Establish documentation that supports employer policies, protective services, and ongoing review

Under Section 132, certain employer-provided security services may qualify for favorable tax treatment when applicable requirements are met. But qualification is not automatic, and documentation matters.

AT-RISK International helps organizations assess executive risk exposure, develop appropriate protection strategies, and support informed security decisions.

We recently asked our network which type of risk concerns leaders most. Insider threats emerged as the leading concern, receiving more than twice the votes of any other category, and it's an important conversation to have.

Insider threats aren't always malicious. They can stem from disgruntled employees, compromised credentials, unintentional actions, or individuals exploiting trusted access. What makes these risks particularly challenging is that traditional security measures may not be enough to identify them.

Effective risk management requires a more comprehensive approach: understanding behaviors, recognizing potential indicators, connecting information across teams, and establishing processes for early intervention.

The goal isn't to create a culture of suspicion. It's to build a culture of awareness, preparedness, and informed decision-making.

We're curious: does this result reflect the conversations happening within your organization? Or is another risk moving higher on your priority list?

Publicly available doesn’t automatically mean actionable.

Organizations have access to an enormous amount of information, from social media and news coverage to public records, corporate filings, imagery and online communities. The challenge is knowing what matters, what can be verified, and how it connects to the risks you’re trying to understand.

That’s where open-source intelligence (OSINT) comes in.

OSINT turns legally accessible, publicly available information into intelligence that can help organizations identify emerging threats, verify facts, and better understand potential exposure. OSINT Infographic

Our latest infographic breaks down the fundamentals of OSINT, including where information comes from, how it is analyzed, and how organizations can put those insights to work.
