Today we remember and celebrate Juneteenth—a day that marks the long-awaited announcement of freedom to those who had been held in bo***ge.

The Bible reveals a God who hears the cries of the oppressed and works to bring justice, healing, and restoration. Through the prophet Isaiah, God declared:

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me... to proclaim release to captives and freedom to prisoners." (Isaiah 61:1)

As we reflect on this important chapter of American history, we also rejoice in the greater freedom found in Jesus Christ—the One who breaks every chain of sin, fear, and despair.

May we continue to be people who reflect God's heart for justice, dignity, compassion, and hope as we look forward to His coming kingdom, where freedom and righteousness will reign forever.

Happy Juneteenth.

The Bible's teaching on marriage is often misunderstood.

Biblical submission is not about inferiority, worth, or value. Men and women are equally created in God's image and equally loved by Him.

In Ephesians 5, wives are called to respect and submit to their husbands, while husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church—giving Himself sacrificially for her.

This creates a marriage unlike any other:

❤️ A husband who serves rather than dominates.
❤️ A wife who responds to Christ-centered leadership.
❤️ Both submitting themselves first to Christ.

When God's pattern is followed, marriages are strengthened, families are restored, and homes become places of stability, love, and grace.

🌿 Biblical love asks: Is my wife flourishing?

When Scripture calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the church, the standard is much higher than simply providing, protecting, or staying married.

Biblical love seeks the flourishing of another person.

A husband should ask:

🌱 Is she growing spiritually?
🌱 Is she cared for physically?
🌱 Am I supporting her emotionally?
🌱 Does she have meaningful friendships and community?
🌱 Am I helping her become all that God created her to be?

Christ doesn't merely sustain His church—He nourishes and cherishes it. Christian husbands are called to reflect that same love in their marriages.

📖 "For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church." — Ephesians 5:29

Biblical love is about more than provision—it is about helping your wife flourish.

When Paul instructs husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the church, he gives us a picture of love that is intentional, sacrificial, and life-giving.

A husband should ask:

❤️ Is she growing spiritually?
❤️ Is she cared for physically?
❤️ Am I there for her emotionally?
❤️ Does she have time for meaningful friendships?

Biblical love doesn't ask, "What can I get from this relationship?" It asks, "How can I help my spouse thrive?"

May our marriages reflect the love of Christ and point others to Him.

📖 "So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies... For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church." — Ephesians 5:28-29

In Ephesians 5:28-29, Paul teaches that husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies, nourishing and cherishing them just as Christ cares for His church.

What does that look like in everyday life?

In this short clip, we explore four practical areas where husbands can intentionally care for their wives:

✅ Spiritual well-being
✅ Emotional support
✅ Physical health
✅ Social connection

Biblical love goes beyond words. It seeks the flourishing of a spouse in every area of life and reflects Christ's sacrificial love for His people.

📖 Ephesians 5:28-29
"So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself... For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church."

A healthy marriage isn't built on feelings alone—it's built on the pattern of the cross. ✝️

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is never free.

As believers, we are also reminded of the greatest sacrifice ever made — Jesus Christ laying down His life so that we could have eternal hope and peace with God.

Today, we remember with gratitude.
We pray for families carrying loss.
We thank those who have served.
And we place our hope in the One who brings comfort, healing, and peace.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

May we never take sacrifice, freedom, or grace for granted. 🇺🇸✝️

What does a healthy marriage look like according to the Bible?

Not perfection. Not worldly success.
A biblical marriage is modeled after Christ’s love for the Church — sacrificial, faithful, and rooted in the cross. ✝️

This short message is a reminder that Christian marriage is meant to be a witness to the world.
