Day 3: Godly Choices in an Ungodly World

Reading: Joshua 24:14-15; Romans 12:1-2

Devotional: Hezekiah tore down the high places, smashed the sacred stones, and destroyed the bronze snake that had become an object of misplaced worship. These were bold, costly, and countercultural decisions. The people around him had grown comfortable with those idols. Hezekiah chose differently because he trusted that God's commands are not arbitrary. God does not ask us to live differently from the world to make life harder. He asks it because He knows what is best for us. As Brother Rick challenged the young people in that congregation, the same challenge stands for every believer. Are you willing to live differently because you trust that God's way is best?

Reflection Question: What cultural pressure or personal habit is competing with your full devotion to God right now?

Practical Application: Identify one area where you have been conforming to the world's pattern rather than God's design, and take one concrete step today toward alignment with His word.

Day 2: Calm in the Storm

Reading: Isaiah 30:15; Matthew 8:23-27

Devotional: When the Assyrian army surrounded Judah and threatened destruction, Hezekiah did not panic. He had a calm confidence rooted not in his own military strength but in the character of God. Jesus sleeping in the boat during a violent storm was not indifference. It was a living demonstration of perfect trust. He was in the boat. That was enough. Whatever storm surrounds you today, the same Jesus who spoke peace over wind and waves is present with you. His presence does not always mean the storm ends immediately. It means you are never alone inside of it. Quietness and trust is your strength.

Reflection Question: What storm in your life right now is making it difficult to believe that God is present and in control?

Practical Application: Spend five minutes in silence today. No requests, no words. Simply acknowledge that God is in the boat with you.

5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide

Based on the Themes of Trust, Faith, and God's Faithfulness

Day 1: Faith That Holds You

Reading: 2 Kings 18:1-6

Devotional: Hezekiah's life was marked not by perfect circumstances but by a determined direction. He did not merely believe in God as an abstract idea. He trusted God with the full weight of his life and kingdom. As Brother Rick reminded us, faith is not something we hold like a possession. It is something that holds us. It is not mental agreement that God exists. It is active, daily trust placed into His hands. Consider today where your life is pointed. Others around you are watching your direction. Does your trust in God show in the choices you make when no one is looking?

Reflection Question: In what area of your life have you been holding on to your own plans instead of trusting God's direction?

Practical Application: Write down one decision you are currently facing and intentionally pray over it today, surrendering your preferred outcome to God.
