Today, as we observe Yom HaShoah, we pause together as a community to remember:

We remember the six million Jews, including 1.5 million children, murdered in the Shoah, alongside millions more whose lives were brutally extinguished by N**i evil. We remember not only the enormity of the loss, but also the individual lives — each person, in the words of our Tradition, an entire world in themselves.

For many of us, the Shoah is a deeply personal story. Parents, grandparents, and relatives who survived unspeakable horrors. Whole branches of family who will never get to know. Beloved community members whose courage inspired us all.

Despite all the cruelty of the past - and the ongoing story of anti-semitism today - Jewish life endures and thrives. Each time we gather for Shabbat, teach our children, fill our Sanctuary with song, and strive to lead lives of mitzvot, we affirm what the N**is sought to destroy: the persistence of our people's commitment to life.

Today, we remember. We mourn. And we recommit ourselves to making the memory of the six million into a source of blessing. In their honor, may we work together to build a world of more compassion, more safety, more dignity, and more peace.

Learn about becoming B’nei Mitzvah at CBI!

Join us for an information meeting on April 12th at 11:00 a.m.

This meeting is open to all families—CBI members and those in the broader community—who would like to learn more about our b’nei mitzvah program. We especially encourage families who have already scheduled a date but have not yet attended an information session, as well as those planning for a b’nei mitzvah in 2028 who have not yet secured their date.

We look forward to partnering with you as you begin this meaningful journey.

Do you need an hour of singing? Join us tomorrow morning at 9:30am for Prayersong with Cantor Amy. Shabbat Shalom.
