CONFESS

Principle 4: Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.
"Happy are the pure in heart." (Matthew 5:8)

Step 5: We admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
"Therefore confess our sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." (James 5:16)

Confess your shortcomings, resentments, and sins
Obey God's directions
No more guilt
Face the truth
Ease the pain
Stop the blame
Start accepting God's forgiveness

Which do you find more difficult: confessing to God, yourself or to someone you trust; and why?

SPIRITUAL INVENTORY

Principle 4: Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.
"Happy are the pure in heart." (Matthew 5:8)

Step 4: We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
"Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord." (Lamentations 3:40)

The following list gives us eight of our shortcomings (sins) that can prevent God from working effectively in our lives.

1. Relationship with Others
Who has hurt you and who have you hurt?

2. Priorities in Life
In what areas of your life are you not putting God first?

3. Attitude
Are you practicing an attitude of gratitude?

4. Integrity
Have you lived one way in front of your Christian friends and another way at home or at work?

5. Your Mind
Have you filled your mind with hurtful and unhealthy movies, television programs, internet sites, magazines, or books?

6. Your Body
In what ways in the past have you mistreated your body? Alcohol, drugs, food, or s*x?

7. Your Family
In the past, have you mistreated anyone in your family?

8. Your Church
Have you been faithful to your church in the past?

Ask God to help you through this challenging but amazingly freeing process:
"Search me, O God, and know my heart: test my thoughts. Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life." (Psalm 139:23-24)

The Effect- What effect did that action have on my life?
The Damage- What damage did that action do to my social, security, and/or s*xual instincts?
My Part- What part of the resentment am I responsible for?

ACTION

Principle 3: Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ's care and control.
"Happy are the meek." (Matthew 5:5)

Step 3: We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God.
"Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship." (Romans 12:1)

Accept Jesus Christ as your Higher Power and Savior!
Commit to seek and follow HIS will!
Turn it over.
It's only the beginning.
One day at a time.
Next step: How do I ask Christ into my life?

Let go and let God.
Psalm 46:10 tells us, “Be still, and know that I am God.” God knows what He’s doing, family!

New Life

God does not lead us day by day, but minute by minute. He is waiting for us to turn our will over to Him so He can use our lives for His glory. Once we summit to God's plan instead of our own, He can begin to work in our lives in ways we would have never imagined. When we trust Jesus and surrender ourselves to Him, only then can He save us from ourselves.
