A community that prays together will always stay together.

At 8 a.m. on June 20, Pastor Brandon Sims and I joined fellow Kingdom ambassadors to prepare the grounds of Greenwood through prayer before the community gathered for Juneteenth Festivities.

We walked, prayed, anointed the walls with oil and saturated the atmosphere with the prayers of the righteous, standing in unity and declaring that the Holy Spirit would reign over every moment.

We stood on the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Prayer changes the atmosphere.
Unity strengthens the community.

When Gods people come together in humility and faith, His presence goes before us, bringing healing, hope, and transformation.

We are reclaiming the land in the name of Jesus. Amen. 🙏🏽

Lauren Corbitt-Evans, executive director of Tulsa Juneteenth, said the prayers ahead of this year's event lifted some of her stress.

Today we celebrate an extraordinary woman whose vision, faith, and commitment continue to shape the legacy of Historic Vernon A.M.E. Church.

Please join us in wishing our Executive Secretary, Kristi Williams, a very Happy Birthday!

Because of Kristi’s passion for preserving our history, Black History Saturdays at Historic Vernon AME Church was born. God entrusted her with a blueprint that has become a powerful educational movement, ensuring Vernon remains the beacon of light it has always been and will continue to be for generations to come.

About Kristi Williams

Kristi Williams, also known as Orisabiyi, is a community activist, historian, and advocate for racial justice and cultural preservation. As a descendant of survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and Creek Freedmen, she draws upon her rich ancestral heritage to champion equity, truth, and historical accountability.

She serves as the Executive Secretary to Pastor Brandon Sims of Historic Vernon AME Church and is the visionary founder of Black History Saturdays, a community-based initiative dedicated to combating the erasure of Black history in schools while empowering educators, students, and lifelong learners.

A National Geographic Explorer and recipient of the 2024 Wayfinder Award, Kristi also serves on the 1921 Tulsa Mass Graves Oversight Committee and the Black Wall Street Chamber of Commerce. Through education, storytelling, organizing, and advocacy, she continues to inspire healing, pursue justice, and build a legacy that will impact generations to come.

Today we honor not only your accomplishments but also your servant’s heart, unwavering dedication, and the countless lives you’ve touched through your leadership.

May God continue to enlarge your territory, grant you wisdom, favor, strength, and abundant joy as you walk confidently in His purpose.

God is Great!!

We kicked off Juneteenth this morning with our Prayer Walk.

It reminded me of Gideon’s army we didn’t need 3,000 people to accomplish what God sent us to do.

We simply needed those who were willing to answer the call.

The assignment was completed, prayers were lifted, and Gods presence went before us.

We believe seeds were planted, strongholds were challenged, and His name was glorified.

Mission accomplished in the mighty name of Jesus.
