Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. In Hebrews 9:18–22, we see why our holy God cannot simply overlook our guilt, why the old covenant sacrifices could never accomplish final redemption, and why Jesus Christ alone could satisfy divine justice. Discover why the blood of Christ is the only sufficient ground of our forgiveness, the security of our eternal inheritance, and the foundation of our confidence before God.

How can a holy God forgive guilty sinners without compromising His perfect justice? In Hebrews 9:15–22, we see that Jesus Christ, the Mediator of the new covenant, secured the eternal inheritance of His people through His once-for-all sacrificial death. Here we are invited to consider the seriousness of sin, the necessity of Christ’s blood, and the sufficiency of His finished work, the only foundation for our forgiveness and eternal hope.

When the world is against you, the safest place is not the absence of trouble but the presence of God. In Psalm 17, David teaches us to run to God as our refuge, trust Him when we are falsely accused, and treasure Him above everything this world can offer. Ultimately, our hope is Christ, and the day when we will “behold His face” and be fully satisfied in Him.

A defiled conscience cannot be cleansed by religious effort, moral reform, or outward ceremony—it can only be cleansed by the once-for-all blood of Jesus Christ. In Hebrews 9:11–14, we see Christ as the greater High Priest who offered Himself to secure eternal redemption and cleanse His people from dead works. And He cleanses us not merely so that we can feel forgiven, but so that we can freely and faithfully serve the living God.

Hebrews 9:1–12 exposes the inadequacy of religion to cleanse the guilty conscience, showing that the old covenant could regulate outward worship but could never perfect the worshiper within. But Christ entered the greater and more perfect sanctuary, not with the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, securing eternal redemption once for all. Our hope is not found in trying harder, cleaning ourselves up, or trusting our religious performance, but in Jesus Christ, our perfect Priest and sufficient Savior.

The New Covenant gives us more than a new heart—it gives us a true and intimate knowledge of God, complete forgiveness, and unshakable assurance through the finished work of Christ. Our salvation does not rest on the quality of our performance but on the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice: He takes our guilt and gives us His righteousness. And because Christ has come, the shadows of the Old Covenant have given way to the substance, as the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus accomplishes what the old system could only point toward.
