Beit Hashofar Synagogue

Beit Hashofar Synagogue Welcome! We are a diverse and innovative community learning Jewish wisdom and tradition together. We are a "Messianic" Jewish community.

We are a diverse and emerging community learning Jewish wisdom and tradition in South Seattle. For over 40 years Beit Hashofar has been a voice for Messiah Yeshua in the Puget Sound. Our community forms a safe and non-confrontational environment where Jews and non-Jews of varied affiliation enter into open minded dialogue. Interfaith couples have also enjoyed a service which engages both partners

equally. We're a group of families and singles seeking an authentic and vibrant Jewish expression. Messianic Judaism is not identified by specific practice or custom. Some in the movement are seeking less traditional approaches to Jewish life while others attempt to engage Jewish halakha, implementing traditional patterns of prayer and ritual observance. Our Synagogue exists comfortably within a more traditional context and yet feels free to experiment with innovative approaches to liturgy and Jewish expression. A Judaism truly nourished by the life and teachings of the only Mashiach is a Torah observant Judaism. While our movement is primarily one of baalei teshuvah (those returning to Jewish observance) we are steadily moving towards our high calling; a life reflecting Jewish law and tradition. Our services are typically every Shabbat, Saturday at 10:30 a.m. During the summer, we have a rotating schedule of Friday night/Shabbat morning services. We meet for services at 13001 37th Ave S, Tukwila, Washington. The service is about two hours long. The liturgy and music are in Hebrew and in English, and are user friendly. The focus of our service is a blend of liturgy (sung in traditional nusach) and Torah understanding for our time. We are a diverse community, everyone is welcome. If you are wondering what you should wear in synagogue, we prefer for people to dress up for the occasion with modest attire.

Today we lost a dear friend. Pamela Moore (Davidah bat Avraham) will be remembered as a loving sister and aunt, a patient teacher and friend of animals worldwide. She has been a member of our community for 30+ years.

We will hold a Memorial Service for her on Monday, February 10th @ 11am at Beit HaShofar Synagogue in Tukwila WA.

We will have food following the service as we continue to remember this kind soul who brought light to our lives. May her memory be a blessing to all of us.

Feeling tired of all these holidays coming at you one after the other? Don't give in yet! Come on out to celebrate the end of the yearly Torah cycle. We'll read the last bit of Deuteronomy and the first part of Genesis and hopefully unroll the whole scroll in between. If you're good, we might even let you dance with the Torah!

Note that this is a morning only service unlike our usual evening Simchat Torah services.
