St. Jeanne Jugan Ministry with Elders A program of Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona, Inc. we are called to offer elders a sense of connection with the Church.

This Ministry to Elders has been placed under the patronage of St. Jeanne Jugan, foundress of the Little Sisters of the Poor (LSP). The primary goal of the program is to offer elders, especially those in skilled nursing facilities, a sense of connection with the Church. Through on-site liturgies and individual visits, the program ministers will offer love and support to Catholic residents otherwis

e unable to attend Mass or receive other Sacraments in their home parishes due to illness, advanced age and/or limitations to mobility. This goal is consistent with Catholic social teaching rooted in the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, with particular emphasis on the Lord’s identification with those physically and psychologically impaired: “When I was sick you visited me”. The ministry will be offered through priests, deacons and volunteers trained as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, working collaboratively.

Patsy, our Coordinator for St. Jeanne Jugan Ministry, hosted an information table at Diocese of Tucson Convocation for Directors and teacher of religious education in the Diocese of Tucson. Everyone stopping by the table were surprised and interested in the various services Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona, Inc. provides and not just in Tucson.
