It's ! This week, as we continue to celebrate the amazing work our Move Out teams did in 2025, we're thrilled to highlight our Traverse City Jail Ministry team. With 15 active volunteers, this amazing team supported three events with Keys to Freedom Ministries, including an annual Christmas event, Gifts for Kids, and a Summer Day Camp for children with an incarcerated parent, plus monthly support dinners and activities for families impacted by the justice system. But often many volunteers work behind the scenes to help further the compassionate care of this group, including those who step up across Kensington TC during the Gifts for Kids event. Whether this be through buying and wrapping gifts or baking special treats, the time and love that goes into this event and every moment of outreach continues to make a positive impact on area inmates and the most important people in their lives, their families. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Every year the Chaplains Office, holds an inmate Christmas party. We have pizza and homemade cookies baked by the community especially for them. For the 25th year, John Collier came to share his redemptive story, something he loves to do!! And every year the residents here create a drawing to attend this Christmas party. These are some of those drawings! It really is the highlight of the year when they get to do something creative towards something very positive. One very special highlight, are the Christmas cards made by the children of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Traverse City Michigan. These cards are very special to them, even more than the pizza and the cookies! This year, a resident testified about those cards:

“thank you for the pizza and cookies last night. The real gift was the handmade cards. One gentleman read his card out loud, then one by one so did everyone else. It was a very moving and special. Please let the children know that made the cards. They really made a special moment for all of us!!“

To all who participated and to the Traverse City community, thank you for sharing your heart!
