Reflection: The Christian life has two movements: faith reaching up to God, and love reaching out to people. Faith receives God's gifts while love simply passes those gifts along to others. What God pours into us is meant to overflow into the lives around us. ✝️

Today's question:
What is the sign of the cross? Is this really something that Lutherans can do?

Reflection, VBS Edition:
God finds us when we think there's no hope.

Jesus' followers felt sad and hopeless when they came to His tomb. They had seen Jesus die and His body buried. But they were in for a huge surprise: Jesus had risen from the dead! Just when they thought everything was over and all hope was gone, God had other plans. He can change things in the blink of an eye.

And because Jesus lives, we have the sure hope of eternal life with Him! He gives us new hearts that love and trust in Him. ✝️

Reflection, VBS Edition:
God finds us when we're lost.

There once was a man named Zacchaeus, who was lost because he was chasing after money instead of Jesus. He thought getting lots of money was the most important thing in life. But then Jesus found him, and his whole life changed for the better. When we feel lost, we can take reassurance in this wonderful truth: Jesus came to seek and to save. You have been found too! ✝️

Reflection, VBS Edition:
God finds us when we're lonely.

Whenever we feel lonely, we can remember that we're never truly alone. Our loving God is with us, watching over us and caring for us. Likewise, He finds us in our lonely times, inviting us to be part of His family — the church — where people love and care for one another in His Name. He still uses other people as His means to bless. ✝️

Reflection, VBS Edition:
God finds us when we have troubles.

Sometimes we have troubles because of things we have chosen to do, like going off on our own. But some of the troubles we have are just part of living in this world. God knows all of the troubles we face, and He cares. ✝️

Happy Trinity Sunday!

Trinity Sunday is when the Church focuses specifically on the doctrine of the Trinity: that there is one God in three Persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Unlike Christmas, Easter, or even Pentecost, it doesn't commemorate a particular event. Instead, it highlights what we as Christians universally believe about God's nature. The Trinity is at the very heart of our faith and worship. We are, after all, baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We pray to the Father through the Son, inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Trinity Sunday serves as a reminder that the God we worship has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Indeed, our blessed Trinity. ✝️
