Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone

“Then He (Jesus) looked at them and said, "What then is this that is written:
The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone'?
Whoever falls on that stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder."

Rome built a monument to humiliate the Jewish people. It became their most powerful historical witness.

The Arch of Titus stands in the Roman Forum today — one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Rome, visited by millions of tourists every year. It was built by Emperor Domitian in approximately 82 AD to commemorate his brother Titus's destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 AD. It was designed as a victory monument — a permanent declaration that Rome had crushed the Jewish revolt, destroyed their city and plundered their most sacred space.

Inside the arch, carved in extraordinary relief detail, Roman soldiers are depicted carrying the spoils of the Temple through the streets of Rome. The seven-branched menorah is visible with remarkable precision. Other Temple vessels are depicted. The triumph of Rome over Jerusalem is recorded in stone with the specificity of an eyewitness account — because the sculptors were working from the actual objects carried in the actual triumph, which they could see with their own eyes.

What Rome intended as permanent humiliation became something else entirely.

The relief carvings confirm, independently of any biblical or Jewish source, that the Temple existed, that it contained exactly the furnishings the biblical account describes, that it was destroyed in the first century, and that its treasures were taken to Rome.

When Jesus stood on the Mount of Olives in approximately 30 AD and told his disciples that not one stone of the Temple would be left on another, Roman engineers had not yet drawn a single plan for what would happen forty years later. When Titus's soldiers dismantled the Temple stone by stone to get at the gold that had melted into the cracks, they were fulfilling a prediction made four decades earlier.

Rome built the arch to celebrate its victory.

The arch has spent two thousand years confirming the prophecy of the man Rome executed.

What does it truly mean to lay down your life for your flock when war comes to your doorstep?

For over a quarter of a century, Rev. William served as a devoted pastor to his congregation at Chungcung Baptist Church in Myanmar's Chin state. He was a loving husband, a father to five children, and a steady spiritual anchor in a region torn apart by conflict. When his beloved village and church were looted and burned in late 2021, Rev. William chose to remain, choosing to shepherd his people through their darkest hours rather than abandon them.

Tragically, that unwavering commitment cost him his life. Arrested in May along with a fellow Christian named Nam Ceu, Rev. William was held by the country's ruling military junta under accusations of aiding local defense forces. On June 4, the military executed the 25-year pastor without a trial or due process, leaving a grieving family and a heartbroken church family behind.

His story is not an isolated one. Across Myanmar, roughly two million Christians live under constant threat of airstrikes, village raids, and heavy shelling. Places of worship, from humble rural chapels to historic cathedrals, have been systematically targeted, burned, and reduced to ashes. Yet, even as their homes and churches crumble, the resilient faith of the Chin, Kachin, and Karen believers remains unbroken.

When we see such deep suffering, it reminds us how precious and fragile our freedom truly is. Rev. William’s devotion calls us out of complacency and into urgent prayer.

Let us stand in the gap today for his widow, his five children, and the countless families in Myanmar who continue to worship Jesus in the shadow of danger. May God surround them with supernatural peace and protection.

The Bible speaks often of Hittites.

Ephron the Hittite sold a burial cave to Abraham.

King David had Uriah the Hittite killed because he wanted Uriah’s wife Bathsheba.

Yet for centuries Hittites lived in the Bible but only in the Bible.

There was no non-biblical record of them.

Skeptics said that a whole people cannot have existed without leaving a trace

Therefore the Hittites were a legendary or mythical people made up by the biblical writers.

Then in the late 19th century the Hittites were found in Bogazkoy in modern-day Turkey.

Bogazkoy was ancient Hattusa—the Hittite capital.

It had city walls, stone gates, fortifications, temple ruins.

Archaeologists discovered the Hittite royal library with more than 10,000 clay tablets.

Eventually these tablets, written in Akkadian cuneiform and the Hittite language, were deciphered.

A whole civilization from the second millennium B.C. came into view.

The Hittites were a great power, along with the Egyptians, and then their empire disintegrated and was lost to history.

Today you can major in Hittite studies in European and American universities.

So the Bible was right about the Hittites.

In a familiar story of biblical archaeology, the historicity of Scripture is vindicated and the skeptics are shown to be wrong.

Thanks to archaeology, the long-buried civilization of the Hittites finally came back to life.
