MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AT BOOTHILL!

Memorial Day is a time for remembrance! It is dedicated to honoring U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the Armed Forces. But it’s also an excellent time for remembering all those that we love and miss, moms and dads, grandparents, teachers, friends and more! My dad served and though he didn’t die in action, he certainly would have. I know that many of our relatives did pass for this country, so when we visit Boothill, let’s remember them all.

Boothill Graveyard on the windswept hill with the Dragoon Mountains watching from afar, is the most famous and enduring Wild West graveyards on Earth! Right here in Tombstone, “The Town Too Tough to Die”, on AZ 80 as you come into town from Interstate 10.

The history here runs deep, with the final resting places of Tombstone LEGENDS like China Mary, Marshal Fred White, The victims of the most well-known gunfights of all time, The McLaury brothers and Billy Clanton, Gold Dollar, the Brady brothers, 3-fingered Jack, and so many others!

Businessmen, soiled doves, mothers, outlaws, gamblers, fathers, miners, Chinese, Mexican, Jewish, teamsters, loggers, and children all have their final resting places here!

HAUNTED TOMBSTONE, A LOOK AT THE GHOSTS OF BOOTHILL GRAVEYARD!

While Discover Tombstone doesn’t officially claim that ghosts are real, there are many residents, businesses, and tourists that would answer that question with a resounding YES! As a matter of fact, there is a group that calls Tombstone home, namely Goose Flats Paranormal, (You should check out their pages!)

For the town being known as “The Town Too Tough to Die,” Tombstone is ironically known for the dead. Gunslingers, soiled doves, miners, business folk, and saddle bums call Boothill home. Even the streets of this city conjure tales of the dearly departed, and the currently residing spirits, that never seem to leave! Ghost Trip Investigation, a worldwide PHENOM of paranormal investigation has been in Tombstone several times and has investigated both Boothill Graveyard, the The Bird Cage Theatre, and Schieffelin Hall!

Boothill is not Tombstone's first cemetery, but it IS Tombstone's most notoriously famous graveyard. Likely the most famous Wild West graveyard on Earth! Boothill interred outlaws and normal folk alike from 1881-1884. Spiritual activity should come as no surprise, as the cause of death was often gunshots, wagon wheels crushing heads, mining accidents, and untimely illnesses!

Visitors report spectral beings, strange lights, shadow figures, and strange sounds. In Boothill's Gift Shop, merchandise is inexplicably misplaced, disturbed, and disheveled. The sweatshirt rack has rotated on its own, untouched by human hands. Photographs reveal strange figures unseen at the time the picture was taken.

Billy Clanton is likely one of the most prolific spirits, said to rise from his grave each night at Boothill. He wanders Allen Street in Tombstone, packing his pistol, then returning to the graveyard after his trek around town. Tombstone’s “Lady in Red”, is another mystical figure that wanders the graveyard in daytime and nighttime alike, Others witness unidentified ghosts above unmarked graves, or hear sounds from beyond near others. Children have been heard giggling at visitors. We can’t even give an estimated count of the number of visitors to Boothill that have had experiences here, they number in the hundreds if not hundreds of thousands!

Then there are the Brady brothers, they both drown in the San Pedro River, one trying to save the other. Investigators at both of Tombstone’s Wild West Paracons captured EVPs of the two, and several report a female butting into the conversations. EVPs and spirit box activity of a young girl are most assuredly associated with “Emma.” She’s a well-known spirit who often will speak in full sentences and answer questions!

Check out the pic taken from Terry Ike Clanton (Yes, THOSE Clantons!) , it’s pretty famous! Check out more at http://clantongang.com The photo of the apparition at Boothill Graveyard has been examined by experts the world over and so far, it has never been proven to be authenticated NOR to be a fake!

🖤 Exploring History and Heritage: Boothill Graveyard and the Taphophile's Fascination 🏜️💀

Howdy, fellow adventurers and history enthusiasts! 🤠 Today, I was thinking about a visit to Boothill Graveyard in Tombstone, Arizona, a place steeped in the rich tapestry of the Wild West's past and my fascination with it and other graveyards as well… 🌅

Boothill Graveyard is a solemn reminder of the frontier days, housing the final resting places of many iconic figures from the late 1800s. Each weathered marker holds a story, an untold chapter of the Wild West, reminding us of the hardships, dreams, and lives that shaped this extraordinary period of American history. 🇺🇸

As I wandered through the rows of graves in the world-famous Boothill Graveyard, I reflected on my own fascination with cemeteries and historical resting places. There's a term for folks like me, drawn to the stories etched in stone or written on wood and the silent echoes of lives lived: we're known as taphophiles. 💔💫

A taphophile is someone who has a keen interest in cemeteries, gravestones, and funerary art. It's not about morbid curiosity, but rather a deep appreciation for the history, artistry, and the human stories that lie beneath the surface. Cemeteries are outdoor museums, telling tales of the past through inscriptions and stories of various Wild West pioneers. They are places of remembrance, honoring the lives and memories of those who came before us. 📜

For me, visiting cemeteries like Boothill Graveyard is a way to connect with the past and pay my respects to the individuals who once walked this Earth. It's about acknowledging the beauty in remembering, cherishing the memories of those who've shaped our world, and finding solace in the quiet corners of history. 🌌

So, if you're like me and feel a certain magnetic pull towards cemeteries, know that you're not alone. There's a whole community of taphophiles out there who appreciate the beauty of time-honored stories and the artistry that accompanies them. Let's continue to explore, learn, and preserve the rich tapestry of our collective past. If you get the chance while visiting the rich Wild West history of Tombstone, Arizona, stop by Boothill Graveyard for an experience that you will never forget! 💖🌿

Are YOU a taphophile? Let us know in the comments what has developed your fascination with graveyards, cemeteries, and mausoleums! Is it the peacefulness? Is it the history? What is it for YOU?
