Did you know? The Lutheran Reformers worked hard to return w**e to the celebration of Holy Communion (also known as the Eucharist or Lord's Supper). At the time, the Western Church only allowed the faithful to receive bread while only the priests were allowed to consume the w**e.

The Lutheran Reformers opposed this practice for a variety of reasons, most especially because such practice went against Jesus's explicit command when he instituted the gift of Holy Communion at the Last Supper (see Matthew 26:26-30)
Lutherans continue this practice today, offering both bread and w**e at Holy Communion. (We also offer grape juice for any who desire it).

Some wisdom from Abba Macarius the Great.

Abba Macarius was an Egyptian hermit in the 300s AD. He led a loosely connected monastic community in the Egyptian desert. He enjoyed great respect during his lifetime and his wisdom was futher spread as later historians included his writings in their publications. Abba Marcarius is today one of the most venerated saints in the Coptic Church (the main Christian church in Egypt).

Sometimes youth don’t feel comfortable asking for prayers. It might be because they don’t want to talk about it with the group or because they think it’s not important enough.

All of your troubles and joys matter to God, and should be brought to him through praise and prayer.

We will continue to share in the joys and pray for the troubles that affect our kids and youth when we talk to them.

But in order to combat embarrassment, a prayer request box has been added upstairs! Kids and youth can write out prayer requests without embarrassment, which can then be appropriately shared with Sunday school teachers, pastor, and/or parents.
