Covenant Lutheran Church Temple Texas

Covenant Lutheran Church Temple Texas 8:30 Traditional Service
9:45 Sunday School
11:00 Contemporary Service (also available on Zoom!) We look for the best ways to love God and love others.

In a world that is simultaneously a beautiful wonder and a damaged creation, our time seems stretched and our resources too few. In a bold statement of Faith, we at Covenant continue to turn to God’s Word to sort it all out. At the very minimum, we know that Jesus brought peace, healing, and direction to a broken world. We join in His mission to care for the lost and the hungry. We hope to create

a space to talk about Jesus' way of living...which we wholeheartedly believe leads to true life. We also believe our church is faith in action. We strive to walk the walk. Many of us are serving with joy in a variety of places here in Temple and beyond. One of the verses often repeated at Covenant is from the prophet Micah’s words “He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

We hope you will join us on this walk of faith… finding peace and life in this changing world. Sunday Worship -
8:30am - traditional service (open communion)
9:45 - Sunday school for all ages
11:00 - praise service (open communion and childcare through 2nd grade)

Here is a word from our new bishop, and a helpful word, I think.

Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry has issued his first in a series of monthly messages that will continue through the end of this year under the title "All Together in One Place."

Each message will share a pastoral word, rooted in Scripture, that witnesses to God’s presence today, our rich theological tradition and the social teaching that connects us.

We hope you can join us for worship this Sunday! Our 8:30 service has a more traditional feel. Our 11:00 service has a more contemporary vibe and a children's portion. Open communion is offered at both services. We can't wait to see you there! Check out our website for zoom options at covenantlutheran.com.

Jesus prayed not for power,
but for people.
For those who were weary.
For those who would carry love into a hurting world.
For those trying to remain faithful in uncertain times.
And perhaps that prayer still holds us now.
In a divided and exhausted world, may we become communities rooted in compassion, grace, and care for one another.

“Holy One, protect them in your name…” — John 17:11

Wherever the Spirit of God is is holy ground.

Wherever the Spirit of God is is holy ground.

Some of the holiest places are not sanctuaries.

A hospital hallway at 2 a.m.
A teacher sitting alone after the students leave.
A kitchen table covered in unpaid bills.
A tired caregiver whispering, “I can’t do this alone.”
A volunteer opening the church doors before sunrise.

This, too, is holy ground.

God is still moving through ordinary people who choose compassion over indifference, presence over power, love over fear.
And often, no one sees it except God.

We wish you a blessed Day of the Ascension! Today is forty days after Easter and is the day that our Lord ascended into heaven for the final time until the day of the Lord's return. May you filled with assurance today that this home, although it is a gift from God and important to take care of, is not our final home. Christ has gone to prepare a place for us with our Almighty, Loving God.

Thursday, May 14, 2026, is Ascension Day on the Episcopal Church calendar.
