A whole new way of being human — that's what Jesus puts on display in his conversation with Pilate.

In part two of their conversation about Jesus and Pilate, Paul, Jon, and Liz continue unpacking what Jesus is really like as a person — his authority, his quiet steadiness, and his communion with his Heavenly Father.

Power doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.

Jesus is on trial for his life — and yet, he’s the one at ease.

Paul, Jon, and Liz unpack one of Scripture’s most unexpected conversations, looking at how differently Jesus navigated his conversation with Pilate than his Resurrection announcement with Mary.

Pilate discovers the mettle in Jesus – and that Jesus is like no one he’s questioned before.

Part one of a two-part conversation is live now. Link in bio. 🎙️

If there's any moment in all of cosmic history and any person who had the right to put the spotlight solely on himself, this was it… the moment of the Resurrection announcement. But Jesus does the opposite and centers on the person in front of him – Mary.

Today, we begin a new podcast series about Jesus, called Unexplored Wonder, in which Paul, Jon, and Liz look at familiar stories and draw our attention to the way Jesus lived as a human.

Thank you for walking with us through Passion Week.

Our prayer is that you've glimpsed the beauty of the person of Jesus — His compassion, His honesty, His focus on others, His sacrificial love — and that seeing Him has drawn your heart to Him anew.

The simplest way to describe the Christian life might be "devoted to others in Christ." And through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus gives us the power to live this way.

May God bless you as you continue to walk in Jesus' love.

How can we pray for you?
Let us know in the comments. 🙏🏼

Hope was born that Easter morning when Jesus stepped out of the tomb.

Now, it may seem painfully obvious, but Christ does the dying; the Father does the resurrecting. Likewise, we do the dying; God does the resurrecting.

Nowhere in Scripture are we commanded to resurrect ourselves. All of the commands bend in the direction of dying. But the resurrection always comes! And it is the work of the Lord to bring resurrection.

It's like the unleashing of a dam of pent-up love from millions of years. Since the Fall, the Father's love has been blocked by our sins. Now the dam bursts! The Father can act. A whole new creation begins.

The same power that raised Christ from the dead is alive in us today.

Hope was born that Easter morning. He is risen! May we live in the hope of the resurrection!

"I was dead."

Those three words from Revelation 1:18 capture the weight of Holy Saturday. Jesus is dead. The cross is behind Him. The resurrection hasn't happened yet. Jesus will remain dead if the Father doesn't act.

Jesus was the first one through death, and He paid the price for all of us.

God's love is completely expended in self-giving. There is no reserve. It is drained, exhausted. God gives himself to the point of death.

This is love we cannot fully comprehend. But when we see it, we must worship.

There's not much about Good Friday that looks "good." Yet the supreme display of God's glory is the cross.

Follow Jesus' journey to His death and watch how He loves people every step of the way:

He tries to rescue Judas, even as he's being betrayed.
He protects the disciples, standing between them and the soldiers.
He heals Malchus' ear—and Malchus responds by tying up His hands.
He looks at Peter with sadness, not judgment, after Peter's denial.
He pours hope into the thief on the cross: "Today you will be with me in Paradise."

Jesus loves to the end. He loves the thief to the end. He loves me to the end. He loves you to the end.

The essence of the cross is that God has nothing for Himself. He is completely "other." At the cross, God expends Himself to the point of death for us. And that's His glory.
