Apostle Paul says to walk, not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Because the Spirit lives and dwells within us, there is absolute power and absolute hope that the flesh can be defeated, not in our own strength, but in His.

Paul, Jon, and Liz continue their conversation about the structure of the soul, looking at how the Spirit helps our souls.

The modern word for "soul" is "self.” But people don't think of the self as a spirit. Our world is Spirit-less, so it’s soul-less. Both evangelical and secular scholars say that our world is disenchanted: one that used to be unable to imagine life without God and now struggles to imagine life with him.

Paul, Jon, and Liz dig into what it means to care for our souls.

Think of this as the Circle of Love: “And this is love, not that we love God, but that he loved us and gave himself for us as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” We couldn't begin with our own love. We have to begin with our Father's love for us.

When the Circle of Love is working, it is a beautiful love relationship.

Paul, Jon, and Liz continue their study of how Jesus lives in the world and what we can learn from him about living as God intended for us to live.

What if submission isn't what holds us back — but what sets us free?

Jesus' entire life was driven by submission to his Father. And instead of it constraining him, it freed him to love an incredible variety of people in ways no one else could.

Paul, Jon, and Liz unpack the beauty of submission in this new episode: https://seejesus.net/blogs/podcast/dependence-to-pick-up-the-crayons-or-not

What followed was months of intense chemotherapy and radiation, multiple major surgeries, and weeks of recovery. But through it all, Jesus was teaching him something he couldn't have learned any other way.

What do you say to people whose suffering makes yours look like nothing?

Jon, seeJesus’ Asia Pacific Director, was invited to speak about the “J-Curve” with leaders in the persecuted church in Asia.

While he was confident the “J-Curve” would encourage them, he felt paralyzed by the prospect of sharing his own comparatively light and momentary “suffering” with them.

All of them had been interrogated or arrested for their faith. He was wrestling with taking out the trash without grumbling.

How does trash compare to jail?
