Bear Pause Lodge — A Place to Rest & Relax
For years, our family’s little place in Northern Michigan, Bear Pause Lodge, has had a simple motto: “Rest & Relax.”
It’s something our family has always loved about the Lodge. It’s a place to slow down, enjoy God’s creation, spend time together, and step away from the busyness of everyday life.
Over these past several months, those two words have taken on a much deeper meaning.
Our family has walked through a season of transition, reflection, and learning some important lessons about rest, abiding in Christ, and recognizing that we weren’t designed to carry everything on our own. One of the things God has been teaching us is that rest isn’t simply something we enjoy when life slows down. Sometimes it’s something we need to intentionally make room for.
And that brings us to an exciting new chapter for Bear Pause Lodge!
Beginning in April 2027, our family is looking forward to opening the Lodge to extended family, personal friends, and friends in ministry who could use a place to get away and simply rest and relax.
Whether it’s a pastor and his wife who need a few days together, a missionary family looking for a break, or friends who just need a quiet place to recharge, we want to share what God has allowed our family to enjoy.
My parents, who own Bear Pause Lodge, are especially excited about this next chapter. They have always had a heart for hospitality and are looking forward to helping welcome and host the families and friends who come to stay.
There will be no charge to stay at the Lodge. This is simply an opportunity for our family to extend hospitality, encourage others, and share a place that has been such a blessing to us.
It’s a little ironic that “Rest & Relax” has always been the Lodge’s motto. After everything we’ve been learning about the importance of rest, it seems only fitting that this would become an even greater part of its purpose in the years ahead.
The Lodge won’t be available until April 2027, but we’re excited to begin sharing this opportunity with our friends and ministry family.

Our prayer is that Bear Pause Lodge will be more than just a beautiful place in Northern Michigan. We hope it will be a place where people can reconnect with each other, enjoy God’s creation, spend time with the Lord, and return home refreshed and encouraged.
Sometimes one of the greatest gifts we can give someone is simply a place to rest.
