Living Faith Church Family:
There is much in the news about the release of files and secret meetings of pastors regarding so-called extraterrestrial life. The response below is regarding the statements some are making that somehow these releases could 'destroy' Christianity.' Below is my response that I've shared on my personal Facebook and other places.
WHOEVER these so-called 'pastors' are who say that Christianity can be destroyed by so-called alien files AREN'T worthy of the sacred title or office of pastor. They (whoever 'they' are) need to go get a job in a factory and stop uttering such nonsense.
IF Christianity could be destroyed by such a release, that would be proof positive that Christians have been wasting their time and money and following an empty religion. Certainly, it would also be true what Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15 that we are still in our sins and of all men to be most pitied. Don't allow yourself to be dragged down the rabbit hole by claims that aliens invented the bible, Judaism, Christianity, Jesus, etc...
The truth is:
Genesis 1:1 (ESV) In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Hebrews 11:3 (ESV) By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
John 1:1–5 (ESV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
1 Corinthians 15:19–20 (ESV) If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. 20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
The faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 3) by the prophets, Christ Jesus, and the apostles culminates in and rests on these undeniable truths:
A) Jesus' virgin birth
B) Jesus' virtuous life
C) Jesus' vicarious suffering & death
D) Jesus' victorious resurrection, and the promise of:
E) Jesus' visible return
No files or other evidence CAN overturn the gospel of Christ Jesus! He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and to the extent there were/are any other extra-terrestrial civilizations (I'm not saying there were/are, just saying IF there were/are), Jesus is their King and Lord as well. This final verse covers all realms of existence and declares that whoever they are (human or otherwise) and wherever they reside (earth or otherwise), Jesus Christ IS their Lord and ALL WILL one day make that confession!
Philippians 2:9–11 (ESV) Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Note: I don't believe for a moment the biblical authors gave thought to extra-terrestrial life beyond God, the heavenly host, satan, and demons. In its original context, the above passage from Philippians wasn't contemplating so-called extra-terrestrial life. That said, I believe the truth expressed in that passage does apply in the sense that God (YHWH) is the uncreated creator of EVERYTHING, and as such, WHATEVER has been created (including so-called extra-terrestrial life) WHEREVER it exists must bow to Him and recognize the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
