Maya Shoham, Regional Director within the Western Galilee Network at the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), joined JFGT staff this afternoon for lunch and a discussion regarding on-the-ground perspectives about Israel, the work of JAFI, and the relationships that strengthen the bonds between our communities.

Maya has spent more than twenty years with the Jewish Agency, leading educational, community, and international partnership initiatives. Born and raised in Jerusalem and now living in Pardes Hanna, she currently oversees partnerships connecting Israeli communities with Jewish communities around the world. As a mother of five, including three children who have served in the military reserves during the past two years, she brings both professional expertise and personal perspective on life in Israel today.

Chef Uri Arnold, Marketing Director for Partnership2Gether, and his wife, Hila, joined us as well; we can't wait for his cooking workshops tonight and tomorrow when he will showcase the beauty of Israeli cuisine and culture with our Jewish Toledo community!

Yesterday, Temple-Congregation Shomer Emunim and Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo’s JCRC hosted "Interfaith Civic Gathering: Renewing Hope and Commitment for America’s 250th." More than 55 participants from diverse religious and community backgrounds came together to reflect on the values that continue to shape our nation.

The gathering featured guided discussion around foundational American texts, including the Declaration of Independence and The New Colossus, with conversations focused on liberty, equality, civic responsibility, and hope.

We are grateful to Temple Shomer Emunim for partnering with us and hosting the event, and to the clergy and community leaders from many faith traditions who participated. Special thanks to Rabbi Delson for hosting and facilitating the gathering.

Finally, we also extend our gratitude to to the Jewish Partnership for Democracy for the support that made this meaningful gathering possible.
