Yesterday evening, Jewish Toledo came together for a meaningful night of connection, celebration and community at the Jewish Federation & Foundation of Greater Toledo’s Annual Meeting. The evening featured a candid Q&A with special guest and author Sarah Hurwitz, the election of our 2026–27 slate of directors and standing committee chairs, a community dinner, and a celebration of this year’s annual award winners. Most of all, it was a chance to reflect on all we’ve accomplished together and look ahead to what’s next for Jewish Toledo.

The 2025 Annual Report offers a look at a year of Jewish life in Toledo, the people, programs, stories and moments that brought our community together. This year, we continued to show up for one another, strengthening security and advocacy efforts, standing with Israel as families and communities work to rebuild, and supporting those carrying the emotional weight of prolonged conflict. Our connection to Israel is about more than philanthropy. It is rooted in our shared responsibility to one another as part of one Jewish people.

Here at home, Jewish Toledo continues to thrive. We gathered around speakers and festivals, celebrated Jewish holidays and traditions, supported our seniors, expanded opportunities for learning and volunteering, and created experiences for people of all ages and stages of life. Each one is an opportunity to build connection, find belonging and experience the richness of Jewish life.

Thursday evening, 25 Jewish Toledo men enjoyed dinner and a presentation by our community member, Vietnam veteran and local Jewish Toledo author, Joseph Moran. Over dinner, the group heard the powerful firsthand story behind his book, "What Had to Be Done, What Has to Be Said/A Combat Medic Remembers the War in Vietnam."

PJ Library and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation team are sad to learn of the passing of musician, philanthropist, and American legend Dolly Parton. Dolly's Imagination Library helped inspire Harold Grinspoon to found PJ Library in 2005.

When Harold had the privilege of chatting with Dolly in 2023, she shared the following with him: "I am honored to get to help inspire a love of reading in children. They truly are our future."

Harold remembers Dolly as "a truly amazing person--not only a great artist, but a great entrepreneur and philanthropist. We honor Dolly for educating millions, for her remarkable career, her kindness, her art, and especially her generosity."
