Devotion 9/2

41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
Luke 18:41

What is the thing that not only disturbs you but makes you a disturbance? It is always something you cannot deal with yourself. The solution is to get into direct contact with the Lord, and turn your problem over to him.
The man in Luke 18:41 has a problem he can’t solve: he is blind, and he wishes to see. He knows he needs Jesus, and he shouts for help. “[They] rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more” (v. 39). The man shouts until he is allowed to come face-to-face with the Lord.
This is what we too must do, whenever we have a problem we can’t solve. People will offer commonsense solutions, but God doesn’t work in commonsense ways; he works in supernatural ways. Don’t deify common sense, and don’t limit God with memories of what you’ve allowed him to do in the past. “I’ve always failed at this and I always will,” you say. “It’s ridiculous to keep asking God to do it.” If a thing seems impossible, it is the exact thing you need to ask for. God does the absolutely impossible.
What is your impossible thing? Is it to become so identified with the Lord that there’s nothing of your old life left? God will accomplish this for you, if you ask. But you have to come to the place where you believe him to be almighty. When we look to God himself, we discover that doing the impossible comes naturally to him. Then— finally—we will ask for what we want. We’ve been in agony, trapped in the ignorance of our own hearts, all because we refused to ask.

Devotional 8/26

29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
Matthew 5 29

Where would we be without our sight it is truly an amazing gift from God. But we're reminded in this verse of Matthew chapter 5 that what we look at with our eyes may not be healthy for our souls.

I believe that when we go through the transformation of being a Christian and our lives become new, we have to retrain all of our senses to leave that old sin state behind.

That retraining begins in the mind because it is it is the mind that will lead the individual into seeing hearing tasting things that are no longer good for him or her after becoming a Christian.

The power of Holy Spirit in us shines the light of truth on the mind and so the mind knows the difference between right and wrong,

Our job is to no longer allow our mind to just run on its own but to filter every thought through our indwelling Holy Spirit

Don't allow your eyes to see things that will cause you to stumble in your Christian walk.

If you don't think God is serious about this, take a look at that opening verse again.

Devotion 8/19

I will give to the thirsty the springs of the Water of Life—as a gift!

REVELATION 21:6

God says that only those who hunger after righteousness will receive it. God thrusts this heavenly manna on no one. You must desire it, above everything else. Your yearning for God must supersede all other desires. It must be like a gnawing hunger and a burning thirst.

Devotion 8/12

3 After His suffering, He presented Himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
Acts 1:3

The Bible affirms the fact of the bodily resurrection of Christ. Perhaps the most direct of all its statements is Luke’s account in the book of Acts 1:3.

He gave many convincing proofs that he was alive (Acts 1:3). God knew that it was imperative for him to show the disciples that after the crucifixion there was a resurrection, that Christ had defeated death and the power of the devil.

Because of that proof our salvation is twofold. we have forgiveness of sin through the crucifixion, and we also have victory over death through the resurrection.

God has called you, He has saved you, and He's going to take you home.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow!!

What a wonderful blessed Homecoming. Thank you all for joining us. It was a wonderful day of fellowship and Praise.
