Episcopal Campus Ministry (ECM) created a Community Covenant focusing on its five core values: choosing belonging, respect, curiosity over judgement, care, and community. The Covenant is posted in The Upper Room. We’re all joining them for their September 27 supper and game night!

🥫 Bring Food to Church This Sunday!

This Sunday, July 26, is our monthly food drive for the Little Free Food Pantry.

A grocery cart will be set up in front of the church on Sunday morning, so please bring a contribution if you're able. Every donation helps!

Our food pantry volunteers tell us they're restocking the pantry daily as St. David's continues to respond to food insecurity in our community, serving both our campus and our neighbors.

Here are some of the non-perishable items that are always appreciated:

canned vegetables
canned pasta
canned soup
canned spaghetti sauce
canned or pouch tuna, chicken
peanut or other nut butters
jam or jelly
mac and cheese
microwave popcorn
juice boxes
ramen noodles
ready rice
pasta
shelf-stable milk
cereal
oatmeal
instant coffee/tea
granola or protein bars
fruit cups, applesauce
baby formula
diapers and wipes
tampons, sanitary pads
soap, deodorant
toothpaste, toothbrushes

Thank you for helping us share God's love by caring for our neighbors.

The Hardy Hikers is a group started by former parishioner M**f Lyons, aka the legendary Chief Church Mouse, around 1998. It thrives today, with a hike every Wednesday year round and five camping trips during the summer months. St. David’s people currently participating include Harry & Karen Brown, June Smith, Jim & Maggie Bowles, Gracia Slater, and Phil & Terri Sanger when they are stateside, any of whom would be glad to answer questions and get your name put on the email list if you are interested. Like at St. David’s, all are welcome. Photos are from last month’s trip to Cataloochee Valley for viewing elk and synchronous fireflies.

Escape to Flat Rock - Starting in the early years of this century, an annual auction took place at St. David’s as a fundrasiser for the church. A wide variety of items were offered by parishioners and friends from the community, from a load of firewood to a sonnet written just for you. Starting in 2009, Gracia and John Slater put up for bid an outing to Gracia’s family’s summer home in Flat Rock that included a sumptuous meal accompanied by John’s homemade bread followed by attending a performance at the Flat Rock Playhouse, all for the benefit of the church. They have graciously continued this tradition even though there is no longer a formal auction. Here are some photos from this year’s outing and a few throwbacks, too.

It was a beautiful day for sprucing up the premises, and quite a lot got accomplished. Come check it our soon. Many thanks to Harry Brown, Marilyn Jody, Jake Jacobson, Betsy Swift, Phil Sanger, Caroline Cameron, June Smith, and Jim and Maggie Bowles. Lydia Aydlett, who helped organize the work day, rescued a dog named Bella that was dodging traffic on Hwy. 107 and was able to reunite her with her grateful owner.

Congratulations to Heidi Dinklemeyer upon her graduation from Smoky Mountain High School. She’ll be attending Appalachian State University this fall and is planning to major in environmental science. St. David’s shared in prayers and blessings for her godmother Lori, her mom Kelley, and her dad Brian last Sunday on The Feast of Pentecost.
