DON’T TRUST THE UNIVERSE—TRUST THE GOD WHO MADE IT! 🙌🏾

Tonight, we’re going deeper into Psalm 124, and I want you to join us for Bible Study and Prayer!

The psalmist ends with a declaration that ought to settle the question of where we place our confidence:

“Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” — Psalm 124:8

The psalmist takes us beyond everything that has been made and points us to the One who made it all.

Why would I put my trust in the creation when I can put my trust in the Creator?

The universe doesn’t know my name.
The universe doesn’t hear my prayers.
The universe doesn’t love me.
The universe didn’t bring me through.
The universe didn’t wake me up this morning.
The universe cannot save me.

THE UNIVERSE IS NOT GOD.
THE UNIVERSE BELONGS TO GOD! 🙌🏾🔥

My help doesn’t come from the stars—God made the stars!
My help doesn’t come from the heavens—God stretched out the heavens!
My help doesn’t come from the universe—God spoke the universe into existence!

And if He has enough power to make heaven and earth, He has enough power to help YOU!

Whatever you’re carrying today, whatever you’re facing, whatever has you worried about tomorrow—BRING IT TO GOD TONIGHT!

Come pray with us.
Come study with us.
Come be encouraged.
Come expecting God to speak to your heart.

Dear Lake View Terrace Family,

Have you ever looked back over your life and realized, “I should not have made it through that—but somehow, I’m still here”? There were circumstances that could have overwhelmed you, troubles that could have swallowed you, and traps that could have held you. Yet here you are.

Psalm 124 tells us why: “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side…”

This Wednesday night, we will gather for prayer and go deeper into this powerful Song of Redemption. Psalm 124 is not the testimony of people who never experienced trouble. It is the testimony of people who survived what should have destroyed them and recognized that there was no reasonable explanation for their survival except God.

Together, we will follow the movement of the psalm:

REMEMBER the difference the Lord makes — vv. 1–5. David calls Israel to look back and give God credit—not only for the good things that happened, but also for the bad things that could have happened and didn’t. Sometimes grace is most clearly seen in what God refused to let become the end of your story.

REJOICE in the difference the Lord makes — vv. 6–7. God has not only spared us from some things; He has snatched us out of some things. Like a bird escaping a broken snare, there are places where we could not free ourselves—but God broke the trap. The snare may have caught you, but grace did not leave you there.

REST in the difference the Lord makes — v. 8. After remembering what God has done and rejoicing over what God has done, we can rest in who God is: “Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” If He made the heavens, He can handle what is over your head. If He made the earth, He can handle what is under your feet. There is nothing you can face that exceeds the resources of your God.

This will be more than a Bible lesson. It will be a safe space for prayer, honest conversation, reflection, encouragement, and healing—a place where we can look back at what we have survived, acknowledge where we still need God’s help, and remind one another that the same God who was on our side THEN is the God who is on our side NOW.

Come with your Bible. Come with your questions. Come with your testimony. And if you’re going through something right now, come needing prayer. Somebody who has been through something ought to be able to say:

“If it had not been for the Lord…”

Celebrating our Ushers! - Sun 08/30/26

Before the sun came up, we were already on the track!

10,000 steps in before most folks started their day. But this morning, every step reminded me of what we preached yesterday from Psalm 124:

“If it had not been the LORD who was on our side…”

The older I get, the more I realize that I’m not still standing because I’ve been strong enough, smart enough, or careful enough. I’m still standing because the Lord has been on my side!

There were some things that should have swallowed me.
Some waters that should have swept me away.
Some teeth that should have torn me apart.
Some traps that should have held me.

BUT GOD!

So this morning, I didn’t just count my steps—I counted my blessings.

Every step says He kept me.
Every breath says He sustained me.
Every new morning says He gave me another chance.

So whatever this week brings:

REMEMBER the difference the Lord makes in your life.
REJOICE in the difference the Lord makes in your life.
REST in the difference the Lord makes in your life.

Because after everything we’ve been through, our testimony is still:

“Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” — Psalm 124:8

10K steps down. A whole week of possibilities ahead. And the same God who brought us this far is still on our side! 🙌🏾
