Bay View was established by Norwegian settlers in 1883 (the first records were written in Norwegian and we still have some members who can read them). The church bell, purchased by the ladies of the church, is still in our bell tower calling us to worship and marking the events in the life of our church family. The stained glass windows are still in our building casting their enchanting lights on

us. While we are mindful of our past, we are always looking to our future. In that vein, we have a new addition to our church whose focus is our youth but is a place for all of us and our community as well. We have a wonderful multi-media room that allows us to host confirmation classes, Learning in Retirement seminars, Adult Forums and our Bethel Bible Study class. There is a sunny, welcoming multi-use room that is home base for WATT Kids (our excellent program for elementary school kids) it has also hosted birthday parties, bridal showers and community meetings. Add the youth room and classrooms for sunday school; and a library that just begs you to sit down and get comfortable. We'd be glad to show it to you and share it with you when you visit. All are welcome - please come and join us!!

⭐️VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH⭐️

This month I have picked Lee Mosgaller as Bay View’s featured volunteer!
Lee and his family have been members at Bay View since 1990.
In his earlier days Lee has participated in spring clean up.
From about 2013-2019 he was an LEM which stands for Lay Eucharistic Minister.
He really enjoyed this especially the part where he would spend time with people at the end of their life, gaining wisdom from their journey.
He current, and single-handedly runs the Community Emergency Fund.
He took over running the program in 2019.
This program aids folks with finding resources with in our community as well as with monetary assistance. An individual can receive help by contacting the church office.
(920-743-4705) Then the office contacts Lee who will call back the individual.
A person is allowed 3 assistance requests in a life time and the assistance can only be granted within Door County. Lee will run a back ground check and often works with Katie’s Fund, St. Vincent DePaul, the Salvation Army, and Stella Maris to best grant aid to the individual.
He has worked with Domestic Abuse Survivors, the unhoused, (often working his magic with the local hotels to get a lower rate for some folks), peoples in need of heat assistance and once even helped to get an automobile fixed so an individual could get to work, just to name a few!
If you are in need of these services Lee is here to help! Please join me in thanking Lee for running this much needed program and for all his other help at Bay View!!
THANK YOU LEE!!!

Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry has issued a pastoral message for Child Abuse Prevention Month.

"April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month, I invite us as a church to be the people we are called to be — witnesses to God’s desire for the well-being of all, especially the vulnerable children and adult survivors in our midst.

At least 1 in 7 — and as many as 1 in 4 — children in the United States experiences abuse or neglect. Many of them will face lifelong consequences of physical and emotional trauma, including higher rates of depression, thoughts of su***de, substance abuse, and even cancer and heart disease. When the church has failed them, many others will face the deep spiritual trauma of guilt and of anger toward the church and God.

But it does not have to be this way. Trauma need not have the final say."
