University Heights Baptist Church University Heights Baptist Church
Sunday Services: 10:30AM
Sunday School: 9:15AM By His words and miracles, Jesus proclaimed Himself to be the Son of God.

We believe that when God got ready to say the most important thing in history, He sent Jesus. In so doing, Jesus delivered God's message and demonstrated His love by dying on a Roman cross for our sin. Because of His sacrifice and His resurrection from death, you can receive eternal life! We believe that if you trust or place your faith in Jesus Christ who is God, eternal life begins right now. Wh

en you believe in Jesus who is life and gives us His life, then you are truly alive - now and forever with Him in Heaven. We believe that living for Christ is the greatest and best life you can possibly live. Living for Him will touch every other area of your life, both in His church and throughout the community where you live.

It's easy to think we'd never respond the way Cain did. But Pastor Rodney pointed out this week that his arrogance can show up in subtler ways in our own lives.

We may not commit murder, but comparing ourselves to others and quietly assuming God should be pleased with what we've done can pull our focus off of Him just the same. A good reminder to stay humble in how we see ourselves.

Have you ever found yourself asking why God allows evil in the world? It is a fair question, one most of us have wrestled with at some point. Pastor Rodney gave us something to think about this Sunday, maybe the better question is not why God allows it, but what we have done with the freedom He gave us.

We spend a lot of energy trying to argue with God about how things should go. Pastor Rodney reminded us Sunday that it is a fight we were never going to win in the first place.

None of us like to think we're capable of real wrongdoing. Pastor Rodney pointed out this week that this kind of confidence can actually leave us the most unprepared.

We looked at the story of Cain and what happens when we stop staying alert and stop yielding to God. A good reminder to stay humble and stay close to Him.

Five days. Five short readings. One goal: to encourage your faith and guide your week. Let's go!

DAY ONE
🌿 The Need for Life ▪▪▪ We enter this world searching for life in careers, relationships, and achievements, but none of them satisfy the deepest hunger of our souls. Jesus is not just pointing us toward life. He is life itself. Stop searching in empty places and turn to the One who offers what nothing else can provide.

DAY TWO
🙏 God's Provision Over Our Plans ▪▪▪ Cain brought what was convenient, not what was required. How often do we do the same? We give God leftover time, partial obedience, and conditional surrender. God does not need our offerings. He desires our hearts. Ask yourself honestly today whether you are bringing God your best or just what is left over.

DAY THREE
⚠️ The Danger of Spiritual Arrogance ▪▪▪ Cain's downfall did not begin with murder. It began with pride, the belief that he knew better than God. Spiritual arrogance makes us unteachable, defensive, and blind to our own need for correction. Stay humble. Stay teachable. Apart from God's grace, any of us is capable of more than we think.

DAY FOUR
✝️ The Blood That Speaks ▪▪▪ Abel's blood cried out for justice, but Jesus' blood speaks something greater: mercy, forgiveness, and redemption. What Cain refused to offer in obedience, Christ freely poured out in love. Let His sacrifice end your striving to earn God's favor. You are forgiven, accepted, and made alive by what He has already done.

DAY FIVE
🏳️ Getting Out of the Ring with God ▪▪▪ We cannot win a fight with God. Cain resisted at every turn and lost everything. Yet even in judgment, God protected his life because His discipline aims at restoration, not destruction. When you find yourself resisting God's ways, stop fighting and surrender. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.
