Unitarian Universalist Church of Stillwater

Unitarian Universalist Church of Stillwater Live your values aloud, not alone. We invite you to look around and get a feel for our church. We are a Welcoming Congregation. We welcome you just as you are.

You will not be pressured into conversation or membership. Our members, friends, and guests include Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Pagans, humanists, atheists, agnostics, skeptics, seekers, singles, couples, families, heterosexuals, g**s, le****ns, bisexuals and transgendered people, of different races, ethnic backgrounds, national origins and socio-economic circumstances. If you're not currently a

member of our church - we'd like to take this opportunity to invite you to one of our weekly services and/or covenant groups. Sunday Church Services start at 10:30am each Sunday. The children go downstairs for Sunday School during the service after the children's story near the beginning of the service. Our serms are presented by servera ministers speaking monthly, by other ministers who speak occassionally, and by laypersons in the congregation or community.

“The Freedoms We Enjoy?”

Nelson Mandela said, “… I can only rest for a moment, for with freedom come responsibilities” and said there are always more hills to climb. We speak fondly of the freedoms we enjoy, but are there times when we enjoy them too much and guard them too little? On Pride Sunday, and on the eve of our country’s 250th anniversary, a realistic look at freedom and its price is in order.

Reverend Donna Compton, M. Div. is an ordained Disciples of Christ minister.

Ecumenism and Interfaith advocacy have been important themes in her ministry.

She preaches for us every other first Sunday.

Boomer was ALIVE today. After all the rain, the lake was full, everything green and lush. Our hiking group took on the Quaker approach to peace and dug into what it means to live as a peacemaker.

We closed with Emerson:

"Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding."

This Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 10:30am, you’re invited to join us for a message from Rev. Susan Ross: “They Too Go Marching.”

So tiny, so insignificant, so in our way. . . .Can we be in relationship?

Reverend Ross, ordained as a United Methodist minister, is our pastoral care minister and speaks on the third and fifth Sundays of the month.

It’s Storytellers time and we want to hear from YOU.

This Sunday, May 31st at 12:30 in the Forum Room.

Share something you've written - a story, a poem, a rant, a ramble. Tell a tale from memory. Take on a writing challenge. Or simply pull up a chair and let someone else's words entertain you.

No experience required. No pressure. Just stories, and the people who love them.

(We're on the fifth Sunday this month instead of our usual fourth, thanks to Memorial Weekend - it’ll be worth the wait.)

All are welcome. Come as you are. Bring a story if you have one.

sskkkkkkkkrrrrrttt! EDIT!!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be no drumming on Sunday. Instead, the children’s program will be learning JETPIG! JETPIG is a song that helps people remember our 6 UU Values: Justice, Equity, Transformation, Pluralism, Interdependence, and Generosity - all centered in Love.

Our children's program is forming a drumming circle this Sunday, putting their musical skills to the test with a song they learned last month!

🎵 Featured song: "You Sing a Song, and I'll Sing a Song"

WHY DRUMMING CIRCLES?
Teamwork
Cultural awareness
Confidence building
FUN!!

Join us this Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 10:30am for Rev. Mark Christian’s message, “Memory: How and Why?”

Looking towards this Memorial Day weekend, I started thinking about how we memorialize things. How does our memory work, and why does it work?

Reverend Christian is a third generation Unitarian Universalist and speaks to us on the fourth Sundays and alternate first Sundays. He has served congregations in OKC and in Las Cruces NM, prior to moving to Stillwater.

Today we hiked The Frank Trail at Keystone Ancient Forest - windy, warm, and sunny, though the trees kept us shaded most of the way. Nine of us went and the conversation was just as good as the scenery. It was a day worth remembering.
