First Sterling

First Sterling Join a thriving KINGDOM FIRST community where Everybody is Somebody. Come & be a part of what God is doing!

From children to grandparents, thereโ€™s a place for you to grow, serve, & experience ministry to empower every generation for Kingdom impact. The vision, mission and goal THE Lord has given Bishop Leslie Patterson, Jr and Co-Pastor Dr. Francene V. Patterson for the First Baptist Church is to preach, practice and produce the gospel to the spiritually and economically poor; the brokenhearted; to thos

e who are in spiritual, emotional, physical and financial captivity; to give sight to the spiritually blind; and those who have been emotionally wounded and bruised by life's battles. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed. Luke 4:18

This ministry seeks to provide food for the hungry, drink to those who are thirsty, housing for the stranger, clothing for the naked, and give visitation to the sick and imprisoned. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Matthew 25:35-36

As Jesus reached out to those who were in despair and destitute, it is our Mission to reach out to the drug addict, homeless, hungry, u***d parents, rejected, and those who have lost hope in life. Proclaiming that with God First, all of life's ills can be healed.

๐ŸŽถ Spotlight on Our Praise and Worship Team ๐ŸŽถ

At First Sterling Church, our worship experience is made even more special thanks to the dedication and passion of our Praise and Worship Team, led by the incredible Pastor of Worship Arts, James Johnson. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Every Sunday, they pour their hearts into creating an atmosphere where we can connect deeply with God. Their unwavering commitment to serving through music and ministry helps guide us closer to Jesus, one note at a time. ๐ŸŽคโœจ

From weekly rehearsals to Sunday services, the team is devoted to using their talents to glorify God, leading us in songs of praise and worship that lift our spirits and strengthen our faith. Their passion for worship is contagious, and it's a privilege to witness their efforts in leading our congregation to experience God's presence more intimately.

Thank you, Minister James Johnson, and the entire Praise and Worship Team (James J., Larry H., Lenny S. Jay J., Barbara T., Sabrina S., Veronica H., Dodie T., Lisa P., LaTonya J., Brenda N.) for your commitment and sacrifice! Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed. ๐Ÿ™

Let's continue to support and lift them up in prayer as they serve with all their hearts to bring us closer to the Lord! โค๏ธ

๐ŸŒŸ Black History Month at First Sterling Church ๐ŸŒŸ
February is Black History Month, a time to honor the profound contributions of African Americans to society in the U.S. and worldwide.

Did you know? Black History Month began in 1926, founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson. He chose the second week of February to align with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass, two figures significant to the Black community. The week was designed to celebrate pride, reflect on achievements, and plan for the future.

Dr. Woodson also founded the Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History (ASALH), which worked tirelessly to expand this celebration. Their efforts led to the recognition of February as Black History Month, a time to honor African Americansโ€™ vital contributions year-round.

Letโ€™s come together to celebrate, reflect, and grow in understanding during this meaningful month. ๐Ÿ™Œ

With heavy hearts, we join in mourning the tragic loss of life in last nightโ€™s devastating plane crash over the Potomac River involving an American Airlines flight and an Army helicopter. We are deeply saddened to learn that some of the victims were former LCPS students, and many other families in our Loudoun community have been affected. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are grieving during this unimaginable time.

Let us take a moment to pray together!
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken by this tragedy. We ask for Your comfort to surround every family, every friend, and every individual affected. Bring peace to their minds and healing to their hearts. May Your presence be felt in a mighty way as we navigate this painful loss together. Give strength to those who grieve, and may they know that they are not alone, for You are with them always. In Jesusโ€™ name, we pray. Amen.

May Godโ€™s grace and peace be with each and every one of you in the days to come.

With deepest sympathy and prayer,
Bishop & Co-Pastor Patterson

๐ŸŒŸ Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ๐ŸŒŸ

As we reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., First Sterling Church invites you to join us in a day of remembrance, gratitude, and service.

โ€œFaith is taking the first step even when you donโ€™t see the whole staircase.โ€ โ€“ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

At 3:00 PM TODAY, we encourage everyone to pause for a moment of silence and devotion to honor Dr. King's vision of unity, justice and faith. We encourage you to spend the day engaging in acts of kindness and service in your community, embodying the spirit of love and hope that Dr. King championed.

Let us come together to continue the work of building bridges and shining Godโ€™s light in the world.

๐Ÿ“– Galatians 5:13: "Through love, serve one another."

We are blessed to stand united in faith and action! โค๏ธโœ๏ธ
