Hey amazing community we have a CarePortal request that could truly ease the burden for a local kinship family walking through an unexpected medical crisis.

Our Connecting Church First Baptist Waynesboro, VA has already connected with this family, and the family is incredibly grateful and appreciative of the support being offered.

Due to an unexpected medical event, they were not able to work a portion of this month. They are caring for four children, one being a kinship placement. Right now, they simply need our community to help bridge the gap.

These are the moments when we get to step into someone’s story and remind them they are not alone.

If just 30 people gave $20, this request would be fully met.

We are reconnecting with mom on Monday with the hope of helping get her caught up and bringing some relief during an incredibly hard season.

Thank you for being part of her story. Every small act of compassion matters.

Of note: All CarePortal requests are vetted by local social workers through SVDSS, who know the family’s situation, available resources, and specific needs. Families also provide consent before support is offered through CarePortal. (CarePortal)

🚨 URGENT NEED | STAUNTON FAMILY 🚨

Update:

💧 $7o8 still needed to restore essential water service.

Friends, this is one of those moments where our community can come together in a really meaningful way.

A local single mother caring for her teenage son with special needs is facing an incredibly difficult season. Due to unexpected hardship and changes in the home, the family is struggling financially and their water service has been cut off.

This request is about more than a bill, it’s about safety, dignity, and stability for a child and his mother.

Here’s the amazing part: if just 48 people gave $20, this need would be fully met.

No gift is too small. When we all chip in, big things happen. This is exactly what loving our neighbors looks like showing up in hard moments so families don’t have to walk through crisis alone.

If you are able, please consider giving, sharing, or praying. Every act of kindness matters. ❤️

💙 Did You Know? 💙

As of April 2026, nearly 4,900 children and youth are in foster care in Virginia, and another 900 young adults are part of the Fostering Futures program.

So what is Fostering Futures?
It’s a voluntary support program for young adults (ages 18–21) who have aged out of foster care, helping them continue receiving support while pursuing education, employment, housing stability, and life skills as they transition into adulthood.

These aren’t just numbers.
These are children and young adults navigating hard things, longing for safety, connection, healing, and people who simply show up.

Foster care awareness isn’t only about becoming a foster parent (though we absolutely need more foster families ❤️). It’s also about asking:

✨ How can I help?

Could you:
• Support a foster or kinship family?
• Mentor a teen or young adult?
• Volunteer?
• Provide meals or tangible needs?
• Help meet vetted needs through CarePortal?
• Encourage a youth aging out of care?

At Foster Love Ministries, we believe small acts of love make a big difference and that connection changes everything.

Because behind every statistic is a child, a story, and a future worth fighting for. 💛

💙 A Community Call: More Foster Families Are Needed 💙

Right now, more than 180 children in Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County are in foster care and over 3/4 of them are placed outside of our community simply because there are NOT enough available foster homes close to home.

When children are placed far away, it often means leaving behind their schools, teachers, therapists, siblings, friends, and the familiar places that help them feel safe. During trauma and uncertainty, connection and attachment matter deeply.

And while many people think foster care is about adoption, the primary goal of foster care is reunification whenever safely possible. Helping children stay close to their community can make a tremendous difference allowing for more consistent family visits, stronger connections, continuity in services, and helping preserve relationships that matter.

Because the truth is: reunification is hard enough. It becomes even harder when children are hours away from everything familiar.

This is not about pressure or guilt. Foster care is not for everyone. But it is about awareness and asking a simple question:

✨ Could our family learn more?

You do not have to be perfect. You do not have to have all the answers. Sometimes saying “yes” starts with simply being willing to have a conversation.

Whether you feel called to foster, offer respite care, or simply want to learn what it means to support vulnerable children in our community , every “yes” matters.
