Please join us in praying over our students and their leaders this morning as they travel to MFuge. They’ll be spending the week at camp and on mission. Our prayer is that God will work through them for his glory this week!

Today we celebrate and honor the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, spiritual fathers, and father figures who faithfully love, lead, provide, encourage, and point others toward Christ.

Thank you for the countless ways you serve your families and invest in the next generation.

Nehemiah 1:3-11
In this passage, we see that Nehemiah learns of how the walls of Jerusalem are still in ruins. This causes Nehemiah to weep with great sorrow, but his response to sorrow is prayer and fasting. Nehemiah begins to pray for Jerusalem, and we can learn from this prayer. Nehemiah prays in a way that can be summarized with an acronym:

ACTS
• Adoration for who God is
• Confession of sins
• Thanksgiving for what God has done
• Supplication, being specific in our requests to God

While our church is not facing the same circumstances as Nehemiah, we still come to the Lord in Prayer for who he will call to our church.

The goal for this worship night will be for us to come together in worship and prayer in the same way that Nehemiah did. We will pray for the candidate God is calling to serve as our Next Generation Pastor and for the individual He is preparing to become our Bridge Kids Minister. We will also pray for wisdom, discernment, and unity for our HR Team and church leadership as they conduct interviews, evaluate candidates, and seek God’s direction throughout both processes.

Jessica,
Since November 2019, you have faithfully served the children and families of Southbridge Community Church with humility, grace, and excellence. Much of what you do happens behind the scenes and often goes unnoticed, but its impact has been felt by countless children, parents, volunteers, and staff.

You have answered volunteer call-outs, stepped into classrooms when needed, and carried the weight of ministry with a servant’s heart. But you did more than lead a ministry, you built a team. You equipped volunteers to be prepared, confident, and ready to share the gospel every Sunday. Because of your leadership, children from the nursery up through 5th grade have always felt welcomed, loved, and valued.

Your kindness, compassion, and wisdom have left a lasting mark on our church. When you taught, you didn’t simply share information, you challenged hearts and called people to action. You faithfully walked alongside children as they took their first steps of faith, having gospel conversations, encouraging families, and celebrating life change. Time and again, you chose to serve in a classroom so a volunteer could sit in the worship service and witness a child they had invested in be baptized. Your selflessness was evident in both the big moments and the small ones.

You have Built a Foundation That Lasts.

While we are sad to see you leave Southbridge, we are excited for you as you begin this new chapter at First Baptist. We are grateful that God is continuing to use your gifts right here in our community, and we look forward to seeing your ministry continue to grow.

Church family, we would love for you to join us tomorrow during Community Hour at 9:30am as we take time to thank Jessica for her years of faithful service. If Jessica has impacted you, your family, or your child in any way, we encourage you to stop by, bring a card, give her a hug, and share how her ministry has made a difference in your life.

Since 2018, Katie and Jonathan Leonard have consistently invested in the next generation at Southbridge. Week after week, they’ve come prepared to teach God’s Word and build relationships with the kids in their class. Their faithfulness, dedication, and love for children have made a lasting impact on countless families and kids over the years.

The Leonard’s have decided to take a much deserved break from teaching 2nd and 3rd grade on Sunday mornings. Before they stepped away, we had the opportunity to sit down with them and hear about their experience serving in Bridge Kids. We’re excited to share their story and celebrate the incredible impact they have had on our ministry.

Katie and Jonathan, thank you for eight years of faithful service. The seeds you’ve planted in the lives of these children will continue to bear fruit for years to come, and we are so grateful for the way you’ve served our church family.
