Harvest of Hope Update: (Week 1)

Thanks to the generous support of our Harvest of Hope Capital Campaign, our kitchen remodel is making great progress!

This week the contractor completed the removal of the old equipment, installed new electrical and plumbing modifications, finished the new framing and installed the new ceiling tiles.

Floor work begins next week, and we anticipate all construction will be complete sometime in July.

As we continue this important project, we kindly ask that those who pledged to the Harvest of Hope Campaign continue making your regular pledge payments. Your ongoing faithfulness is helping replenish our savings and ensures we can complete our parish goals without delay. Thank you so much for your continued generosity and partnership in what the Holy Spirit is doing through our church!

We’re excited to see this parish-favorite space transformed and look forward to the ways it will bless our church family for years to come!

Thank you to all who brought food, helped serve, or dropped by the three receptions after Mass to celebrate Deacon Justin Motes as he preached and served at all the Masses yesterday. Congratulations again and we look forward to celebrating more next year!

Harvest of Hope Progress Report: Kitchen demo has begun! One church in Columbus has requested the cabinets and Sacred Heart in Valdalia has requested the ice machine as we make way for remodeling the kitchen with new appliances and equipment to meet the growing needs of the parish.

St Matthew joyfully celebrates four clergy celebrating their anniversaries this week! Thank you all for your service at the altar and community! We appreciate you all and your sacrifices to bring us closer to Jesus!

Congratulations to the newest transitional deacon for the diocese and from St Matthew, Deacon Justin Daniel Motes! We look forward to your first homily tomorrow! Thank you to all the parishioners who attended to witness this special moment.

Don’t forget that Justin’s diaconate ordination is tomorrow at 10am! If you can’t attend, it will be live streamed. We are excited for Justin and he will be preaching at all the Masses on Sunday with a drop in reception to follow after each Mass.

Did you know over the weekend, both our pastor, and Deacon John and Chris all completed a pilgrimage to the tomb of St James by hiking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela? Thank you for praying for us and may we always be mindful that perhaps the most important pilgrimage we hike daily is from our head to our heart being disciples of Jesus and making him known to others until our earthly pilgrimage is completed.
