We’re proud of Nick, for using your voice and helping tell this story.

Nick took the time to write a thoughtful and meaningful piece for The Stanford Daily about October 7, Jewish memory, and the importance of remembering and honoring those whose lives were forever changed.

This is an important article, with thoughtful perspectives and arguments that deserve to be read and shared.

Take a few minutes to read Nick’s article—and if it resonates with you, share it with others.

We remember. We stand proud. And we continue to bring light.

Portraits, a live stream from Israel and candles filled Meyer Green as student groups marked three years since the attack.

🕯️ Three years since October 7, 2023.

Today we remember the 1,200 innocent lives brutally taken, and the families forever changed. We remember the 251 hostages who were kidnapped from their homes.

The world has changed since October 7. Jewish life has changed. The way many people view Israel has changed. And for many of us, the way we experience being Jewish has changed.

But there is one thing we can choose: how we respond.

I recently came across a powerful video of Bar Kuperstein, who was taken hostage and held for more than two years. Bar returned to the Nova festival site, where he had worked as a paramedic during the attacks. This time, he returned as a free man—and wearing Tefillin.

Bar shared a simple but profound message: those who were murdered are no longer here. But we are here. And we have the opportunity to do good in their memory.

Light a Shabbat candle. Put on Tefillin. Give charity. Visit a friend. Call someone you love. Do a Mitzvah. Be a little kinder. Be a little more present.

Every Mitzvah brings more light into the world.

Today, let us remember those we lost—not only with sadness, but with action.

Let us live proudly as Jews. Let us choose goodness. Let us bring light. 🕯️

Today, we are deeply grateful for the miraculous saving of so many lives aboard the Israel-bound flight from Dubai.

We pray for the full and speedy recovery of the wounded pilot, Captain Smit Machchhar, and salute the incredible courage of the passengers and crew who stepped up in a moment of danger.

But for the Yidden aboard that aircraft, there was something even greater behind it all — Divine Providence.

The right people were in the right seats.
The passengers reached the cockpit at the right moment.
Qualified pilots were aboard when they were suddenly needed.
The aircraft remained intact.
The controls continued responding.

And 174 passengers live to tell the story.

Sometimes, we see the hand of Hashem in the most unexpected places.

And now, as we celebrate Sukkot, we step outside into the Sukkah — a symbol of Hashem's protection and our enduring faith.

After moments of fear, we choose joy.
After attempts to frighten us, we choose Jewish pride.
After being targeted, we choose to gather together.

Let's celebrate Sukkot! let’s celebrate Jewish life proudly—join us in our Sukkah, shake the Lulav and Etrog, and rejoice together! Reply to this email to schedule a time.
