This past Sunday Larry Johnston entered the church triumphant. Pastor Hetrick will lead his service of Resurrection Victory this coming Sunday at 2 pm at Koch Funeral Home with visitation from 12:30-2 pm. Please keep his wife Helen in your prayers.

Friends, this week I have the privilege of being at the annual ELCA Larger Church Conference. I’m here with lead pastors from the very largest ELCA congregations in the USA. Also joining us is ELCA Presiding Bishop Curry (in the photo), teaching theologians from our ELCA seminaries, and heads of church-related adjunct ministries like Portico, ELCA Foundation, Lutheran World Relief, and more.

Best of all, I’m gathered with talented, dedicated pastors who are growing, innovating, and leading the Church forward in creative, faithful, and exciting ways. It’s a wonderful opportunity to network and share best practices. What a blessing to be “church together” in a denomination with the rich passion of so many wonderful leaders.

Please pray for us as we work collaboratively this week to center ourselves and our Church on Christ so that we can better serve our congregations, communities, and world.

Yesterday we commissioned Helen Brenneman and Dan Douthitt as our newest Stephen Ministers upon completion of their training with Stephen Leaders Brenda Palmgren and Susan Hirth. Stephen Ministers offer one on one faith-based confidential caring to people who are hurting or experiencing life challenges. We give thanks for all of our Stephen Ministers and if you feel God calling you to walk with others in compassion, we hope to train more folks in the fall.
