Tips for staying cool:
- Make sure all curtains, blinds, and exterior doors are closed.
- Make sure the filter is clean. If you haven’t changed it in the last month, it needs to be changed. If you have indoor pets the filter may need to be changed every two weeks.
- Make sure all vents are open and the doors of each room should be open as much as possible to improve air flow.
- Run ceiling fans when you are in a room. This will make you feel cooler.
- Spray the sides of your outside condenser with water during the hottest part of the day.
- Let your AC cool the house down at night. Turn the thermostat down 6 degrees cooler than you usually keep it, then turn it back up to your normal temperature in the morning. This will cool the walls and furniture down which will help keep the whole house cooler longer.
- Don’t leave your front or back doors open. Storm doors alone won’t keep the heat out.
- On average at 100 degrees outside, the inside temperature will be 7 to 10 degrees higher than what you have thermostat set at. Your unit will be doing the best it can.

More weather update for your heating system.
If you have a heatpump and outside unit freezes over . You can go 2 thermostat and put unit on emergency heat. This will give you a some heat if your outside unit stops working

Absolutely! Turn your thermostat up a couple of degrees on Friday to get all your walls warmer. Do not be alarmed if you hear your unit come on outside and making a loud humming noise. It is going into defrost mode and will do that every couple of hours when it’s really cold. Keep an eye on your unit and use a broom to sweep away any accumulated snow or ice.
