🇺🇸 Labor Day began in the late 1800s, when ordinary American workers joined together to speak out for safer workplaces, reasonable hours, and fair treatment. Their efforts helped bring meaningful change, and Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894.
It is a powerful example of what can happen when regular Americans have the courage and freedom to stand for what is right.
America has never been perfect, but our founding principles give ordinary people the freedom to challenge wrongdoing and help our nation move closer to its promises. As Christians in America, we are called to use that freedom faithfully. Our loyalty to Christ comes first, and it should guide us as citizens. We should pray for our leaders, honor the dignity of every person, care for those who are mistreated, and speak the truth with courage and love.
“Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed.” Isaiah 1:17
This Labor Day, may we thank God for our freedom and remember our responsibility to use it in service to others and for His glory.
