Encouraging Words for the Week
Words have weight!!
Words carry life…Or death.
(Proverbs 18:21)
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
They impact people. And sometimes we don’t even realize the impact.
A word that was spoken in seconds… Can be held for years.
That can be a positive thing or a negative one… It depends on what was said.
We all can remember good things and bad things that have been said to us.
It’s likely things that aren’t even remembered by those who said them.
But words have power. They stick with us.
Let’s not be someone others have negative memories of.
Let’s not be someone who uses harsh words. Let’s be wise with our words.
Let’s use our words to uplift, and encourage… Not discourage.
Yes, we all get frustrated or upset, and it’s in those moments that we’re most susceptible to saying something we shouldn’t have.
The Bible gives us wisdom about this.
It guides us to not be quick to say what we think. That’s a recipe for trouble.
(Proverbs 29:20)
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
We’re better off saying nothing… Than something attacking.
(Proverbs 17:28)
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
That doesn’t mean you don’t defend or stand up for yourself, but you can do that without words that tear someone down.
It’s a human reaction to want to do that when you yourself feel hurt.
We want to give them a dose of their own medicine.
Isn’t that fair? Revenge isn’t ours. It’s God’s. He promises to be our defender, our justice… He will deliver what’s deserved.
(Romans 12:19)
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
You may not see it. But trust that if God said it… It will be. That’s actually a gift.
It’s freedom from a mind and body that’s tossing and turning with angst.
It’s freedom from weight that someone tried to put on your back.
You don’t deserve that.
And God, in His wonderful ways, doesn’t leave us to figure that out.
He tells us to leave it with Him. Let’s leave it with Him. We’ll never go wrong trusting Him.
That’s how we win.
