Please pray for the family of Dr Gene Balding and Russellville First Baptist Church. He was such an inspiration to many. He was always there for advice in ministry to me as well as so many others.

As we get closer to VBS, we want to remind our church family that the most important preparation we can make is prayer.

Programs, decorations, games, and lessons all matter, but none of it matters more than asking God to move in the hearts of children and families.

Nina and Leeah has set up an “Illuminate VBS with Prayer” station in the coffee area. We would love for every person to stop by, take a lightbulb card, and pray specifically for that request throughout the week.

Then, bring your lightbulb back the following Sunday, return it to the board, and take another one so we can continue covering every part of VBS in prayer together.

Some of the prayer requests include:
• Hearts to be open to the Gospel
• Safety for children and workers
• Boldness for teachers and leaders
• Families to attend
• Lives to be changed through Jesus

Let’s ask God to do more than we could ever plan ourselves and shine His light through this year’s VBS.

VBS Kickoff:
Saturday, June 20
2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

VBS Classes:
Monday–Wednesday
June 22–24
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

This Sunday we’re starting a new mini-series inside our “Jesus Said What?” series called:

PREPARED, NOT PANICKED
“DON’T BE DECEIVED”

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to talk about deception, discernment, the end times, and what Jesus actually said about the days leading up to His return.

And honestly, I don’t know if there has ever been a time in my life where people seemed more confused about what’s true.

Every week there’s another headline.
Another “disclosure.”
Another theory.
Another viral video.
Another reason for people to fear.

People are talking about:

• UAPs
• aliens
• artificial intelligence
• government secrets
• spiritual experiences
• deception
• end-times confusion
• and things that honestly sound like they came straight out of a science fiction movie

Now let me say this clearly before we start:
The goal of this series is NOT to become “the UFO church” or “the conspiracy church.”

That’s not what this is.

This series is about making sure believers are grounded in Scripture when the world around them starts losing its footing.

Because one of the biggest problems in modern Christianity is this:
A lot of believers know prophecy language…
but they do not know prophecy Scripture.

They know:
• internet theories
• social media clips
• YouTube opinions
• sensational headlines

But many cannot open the Bible and explain why they believe what they believe.

Church, deception is dangerous because counterfeit things usually look close enough to the real thing to fool people.

The FBI trains agents to identify counterfeit money by studying the real bill so closely that the fake becomes obvious.

That’s the burden behind this series.

Not panic.
Not sensationalism.
Not obsession with darkness.

But becoming so grounded in the truth of God’s Word that deception cannot easily move us.

Jesus did not say:
“Watch the skies.”

He said:
“Watch out that no one deceives you.”
— Matthew 24:4

I believe this is going to be an important series for the church in the days we’re living in.

I will have the honor this Sunday to preach a sermon that was given to me from Yvonne Sherrill that was Bro Jerome Sherrill’s favorite sermon. It truly is an honor to have this.

Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they missed the moment of their visitation.

They had the truth. They had the Scriptures. They had the Son of God standing right in front of them.

And still… they passed by the opportunity of salvation.

I wonder today…Has Jesus wept over us because we kept putting Him off?

Jesus asked a question that still cuts straight through the noise today

“Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch?”
Luke 6:39

We’re living in a time where voices are loud, platforms are big, and leadership is everywhere
but not all of it is clear and not all of it is biblical

This Sunday we’re going to talk about what real leadership looks like and why it matters more than ever

Here’s where we’re going

• Leadership must be biblical above all
• Blind leadership leads to real consequences
• What shapes the leader shapes the follower
• Clear vision requires personal examination
• True leadership points to Christ, not culture

This isn’t just about pastors or leaders. It’s about every one of us because we’re all influencing somebody

The question is:
Where is your leadership taking people?

We need your help.

Vacation Bible School is one of the most important weeks we have all year. It’s not just crafts and games, it’s an opportunity to plant the Gospel in the hearts of children who may never hear it anywhere else.

Right now, we still need several teachers and helpers to make this happen.

You don’t have to be a Bible scholar. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing.

There are kids who are going to walk through our doors that week who need someone to show up for them. Someone to smile, to teach, to care, and to point them to Jesus.

Would you prayerfully consider stepping in and serving?

All the details are in the image below. If you have any questions or are willing to help, please reach out.

Let’s not miss this opportunity to make an eternal difference.

What a special night at Mt. Hebron!

Sunday evening we had the honor of licensing Nick Cole to the Gospel ministry of Jesus Christ. It was a powerful time of worship, testimony, and celebration as we recognized God’s calling on his life.

We are so proud of Nick and thankful for what the Lord is doing in and through him. Whitney, we love you too and are praying for both of you as you step into this next chapter together.

Thank you to everyone who helped serve and made the night so meaningful for our church family. It truly was a night we won’t forget.

Looking forward to all God has ahead!
