Thank you to everyone for their support with the Yard Sale! The youth made over $2400.

Come to Friday dinner will start at 5pm tomorrow evening in the gym. Eat with others in the gym or take it to go! Fried chicken, mac&cheese, baked beans, and salad.

It looks like our new electronic sign that will replace the sign on Broadway will be installed next Wednesday. Can't wait!

The Summer book study will begin next Wednesday at 6:30pm. We will be meeting at the church.We will be discussing the first section "The Faith we Confess". There are 5 short essays in this section. The book is "together by grace - Introducing the Lutherans".

The Midweek Bible study will be on summer hiatus through July and August.

Prayers to all who have been affected by the Upriver fire (and others in our region). I have heard from a handful of people
that live in that area and they are all well. So far, no one has reported any destruction of property from Advent. Pray
for the responders and the relief workers as they put this out!

Do you have gently used items that could be donated to the Yard Sale this weekend? The youth will be at the church
tomorrow, Friday, from 1pm through the afternoon and evening to receive donations. The yard sale will start at 9am on Saturday.

This Sunday is Father's Day. We will celebrate and remember our fathers and father figures that helped shape our lives.

Just a reminder that there is no Come to Friday dinner tomorrow night, June 12th.

Prepare to stay after worship for our semi-annual congregational meeting that comprises mostly annual reports, elections, and some new business.

This Sunday we will be welcoming some new faces to our parish during the worship service. Come and be a part of it!

That Mystery Dinner was a hoot! If anyone took pictures during the event please send them to Cheryl in the office. Thank you!

The Ladies Luncheon is this Saturday at 12:00pm. They are meeting at Max at Mirabeau.

The youth Yard Sale is June 20th. Please bring your lightly used donations on June 19th after 1pm.
(If you need to do this earlier please call the office.)

Looks like summer is on the horizon! Enjoy all that God has given us!

Which way to the speakeasy? Tomorrow night is our Murder Mystery Dinner in the fellowship hall. For those who have
tickets doors open at 5pm. What a wonderful way to raise funds for our Lutherhaven Camperships!!

Congratulations to all our graduates! We will be recognizing and blessing them this Sunday during the worship service.
Each will be wrapped in their quilt!

Those of you who are new to Advent and have not been introduced on a Sunday please join Pastor Matt in the classroom after worship this Sunday for an orientation. Then on June 14th we will introduce you to the congregation, we like to call it New Faces Sunday.

We will be starting a Summer Book Study Wednesday July 1st. It will start at 6:30pm. There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex with the information on the book.

Wow, after that heat and the coming storm tonight you may not want to cook tomorrow night! Luckily we have our
Come to Friday dinner starting at 5pm in the gym. You can eat it in the gym or take it with you. We are having
goulash, salad, cornbread, and melons.

Thank you to the Happy Helpers for hanging and removing the red streamers in the sanctuary for Pentecost!

Are you new to the Advent community? Have you been introduced as a New Face? If not, please join Pastor Matt in the conference room after worship on June 7th for an orientation about our congregation and our Lutheran identity. On June 14th we will be saying hello to those that are new during the service, we like to call it New Faces Sunday. And it happens to fall on the same Sunday as our semi-annual congregational meeting where we look at annual
reports, have elections, and any new business that we need to do.

Graduates, if you have not picked out your quilt please come to the church and do that before June 7th!

What a wonderful celebration last Sunday! For 15 years we have been Advent in all of its different ministries and programs.
Thank you to Kevin for his special music and to our hospitality crew for setting up and executing a great potluck!

Remember to wear red this Sunday as it is Pentecost. As I said in worship last Sunday...."I may have something in crimson to wear."

Cheryl will not be in the office tomorrow, May 22nd. Also, the office and the child center will be closed on Monday, Memorial Day.

Here is a prayer from a Dominican website about Pentecost:

"Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.

Come and celebrate 15 years this Sunday! We have special guests, a video from Bishop Manlove, special music, anda good old fashioned Potluck planned! Bring the family and your favorite dish (or dessert!). There will be celebration cupcakes for everyone!

Sunday May 24th is Pentecost Sunday, remember to wear your red to church!

Thank you to Karen and Carol for planting flowers around our property, just in time for the anniversary!

If any of you were having trouble seeing the lines in our parking lot recently, worry no more! We have a new blacktop and the lines have been painted!

Today, May 14, is Ascension Day. In the Christian calendar today is the day that Jesus ascends to heaven, 40 days after Easter. Following the Gospel of Luke and Acts, the Apostles watch Jesus ascend into heaven and then go to the room in Jerusalem where they stay for another 10 days when another shocker happens....Pentecost (Fifty).
