Mother’s Love
2 Timothy 1:5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.
She was in her final day, tired and sickly. She was narrating to me how she had raised her children, in a godly way. But none had given their lives to the Lord. She wept loudly. I grabbed her hand and said softly, “You have done your part, let God do His now”. She stayed calm, looking me right on my face, and with tears rolling on her chicks, she repeated my words again “I have done my part, Let God do His now” and she slept. Little didn’t I know that would my last words to talk to her.
Being leaders in their Church, Eunice and her husband brought their children with all what a godly person can do. But instead of being good children, they became drunkards, and all manner of bad kids can be. She and her husband kept praying and doing their parts to the end but none gave their lives to the Lord. By the time she died, all her kids were in bad shape.
After her death, relatives and friends came to offer comfort to the family. Believe it, before she was buried, all her kinds had given their lives to the Lord. How glorious it was in Heaven! Apostle Paul wrote to his son Timothy about the faith that was in him. That was credited to the grandmother Eunice and his mother. That means the grandmother’s faith was passed over to Mother and later to Timothy.
Mothers are a treasure. They pass over the God promises to their children by nurturing, teaching and faith in Christ. A good mother never get tired of her children no matter what. “Her children rise up and call her blessed” — Proverbs 31:28
Today, as we celebrate our mothers, remember, your mother has done her part, God will do His in your life. If you are mother, don’t grow weary on your children, do your part and God will do His part. My mum taught me how to pray. I can almost hear her telling me “Do not pray like me, tell God what is in your heart” That’s prayers!
Happy Mother’s Day!
