Followers Church Bringing glory to God and to make Him known. Service is at 9:30am on Sunday mornings Why the name Followers Church?

Originally, Christians were first referred to as, “followers of the way.” This alluded to a way of living that Jesus and His followers had become known for, a way of living that actually helped people learn about God, or find Him, while demonstrating how to follow Him. That’s what we want to be known for at Followers Church. Over everything else, we want to be known as followers of Jesus by the way we live our lives, and in doing so, help others find and follow Jesus.

Instead of writing a book or launching a campaign to increase awareness on the benefits of eating meat, or why drinking wine was great for managing stress, Paul decided that his personal dietary freedoms (or the things he personally enjoyed) might become a stumbling block to those he was discipling, and so he hid those types of hindrances from the view of some. Which is exactly what we should do too.

Some have accused Paul of promoting a doctrine that restricts marriage, and some say he promoted hasty marriages, but what Paul was actually trying to do was help everyone in the church understand that married or not, our love for God above all others is commanded, and that our pursuit of God’s will should be our supreme pursuit above all other things. And so, if you’re married, treat the marriage as if it’s holy and for God. And if single, treat your life as if it’s holy and for God.
