Faith is not just about believing God for something to happen. There is an end to our faith, and Pastor Jon reminded us that the end looks like Jesus. It is the Word of God becoming the way we think, the way we respond, and ultimately the way we live.

God is bringing our mind, will, and emotions into agreement with what He has already placed within us by His Spirit. The goal is not simply to know more Scripture, but for the Word to become flesh in us—to see the nature of Christ formed and expressed through His people. Hold on to the end of your faith. The destination is Christ.

We have to learn to recognize where the move of God begins.

Pastor Jon reminded us Sunday that under the New Covenant, knowing God is not reserved for a certain age, title, or position. Jeremiah spoke of a people who would know Him “from the youngest to the greatest,” and the Spirit has been poured out upon all flesh. So when God speaks through our children, calls the overlooked, or places His hand on someone others would have passed by, we should not be surprised. David was the youngest, the one left outside when the prophet came to anoint a king, yet he was the one God had chosen.

Sometimes seeing what God is doing next requires us to look where we have been conditioned not to look. Pastor Jon said the move of God begins in the little ones, the insignificant ones, the lowly ones, and in humility. Our responsibility is to recognize it, make room for it, and refuse to hand another generation a legacy of fear, limitation, or defeat. We are passing on generational blessing and becoming a house where every age can know the Lord, carry His glory, and step into what God is raising up next.

“Identity creates purpose and perspective.”

When Miles Johnson spoke those words Sunday, he gave us a simple framework for navigating much more than a Youth Sunday. When we know our identity in Christ, we begin to understand why we are here. When we understand our purpose, even the way we see difficulty begins to change. What once looked only like frustration can become an opportunity to trust God, grow and allow Christ to be revealed through us.

That kind of perspective does not mean pretending every circumstance feels good. Miles talked about moments when “Thank You, Lord” was not an easy celebration, but something he had to press through and say in the middle of difficulty. Knowing who we are in Christ changes the way we see those moments. We can take our thoughts captive, allow our minds to be renewed, surrender the areas of our hearts that still need His work, and recognize even adversity as an opportunity to trust Him. Identity gives us purpose, and purpose changes our perspective.

Wednesday nights are back at Reformation Church, and we’re beginning something new: School of the Spirit.

Join us each Wednesday at 7PM as we take a study through the worship arts, exploring the biblical foundations of worship and the different ways worship is expressed through sound, music, creativity, and the life of the believer.

This is more than learning songs or developing a skill. We want to grow in our ability to respond to the Spirit, and discover how our gifts can become an expression of what God is doing in and through His people.

“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.”
1 Corinthians 12:1

When people encounter us, what are they seeing?

Miles used the picture of an app icon on a phone. When you press the weather icon, you expect the weather to open. In the same way, whether we are at school, at work, in the grocery store or somewhere completely ordinary, our lives are meant to reveal the Christ who lives within us. Our identity is not something we manufacture for ourselves. It begins with knowing who God says we are and allowing that truth to shape how we live.

That is why the question “What does heaven say about me?” matters. The world will continually offer identities based on performance, failure, comparison, fear and circumstance, but the Word brings us back into alignment. We were created in the image of God, rooted in Christ and called to become an expression of His nature in the earth. The more clearly we know who we are in Him, the more clearly others can see Him through us.
