He is risen—Alleluia! ✨

Tonight, in the quiet darkness, we remember the beauty of our faith as the old is laid to rest and the new is brought to life. The oils and cloths from the past year are reverently burned, a symbol of all that has been carried, prayed over, and entrusted to God. From those ashes, a new flame is born pure, radiant, and full of hope.

That sacred fire lights the Paschal Candle, the light of Christ, breaking through the darkness. Just as that flame spreads, so does the promise of new life, reminding us that no darkness can overcome His light.

This is the heart of Easter…
Jesus has conquered death.
The tomb is empty.
Hope is alive.

May that same flame ignite our hearts with faith, renew our spirits, and remind us that through Him, all things are made new.

He is risen indeed—Alleluia! 🕊️

Today our school family gathered for Ash Wednesday Mass, beginning our Lenten journey together in prayer, reflection, and humility. As a community of faith at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, we were reminded that this sacred day is not only for our students and staff, but for all who follow Christ.

In his homily, Father shared how our cross i created. He reminded us that our relationship with God stretches one direction, and our relationship with one another stretches the other and together they form the Cross that Jesus carried for us. When we are rooted in prayer and strengthened in love for one another, we truly live the Gospel.

He also challenged us as we begin this Lenten season:
Before we speak, ask yourself Is it true? Is it helpful? Is it inspiring? Is it kind?
If it is not, then we must pause. Lent is not only about what we give up, but about how we grow especially in the way we speak, act, and love.

The ashes we receive today are a powerful sign in the Catholic faith. Made from the blessed palms of last year, they remind us of our human frailty and our need for repentance. As the priest marks our foreheads with the sign of the Cross, we hear the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” The ashes symbolize humility, conversion of heart, and our desire to turn back to God with sincerity.

As we journey through these forty days toward Easter, may we deepen our prayer, strengthen our love for one another, and carry our crosses with faith and hope.

All are welcome to join us throughout this sacred season as we walk together toward the joy of the Resurrection. ✝️

✨ Saint John the Baptist Reunion – March 14, 2026 ✨

At Saint John the Baptist, we know that even years later, our Spartans still gather in love, bound by faith, friendship, and the memories made within these walls. The halls may have changed and grown, but the spirit of our community remains rooted in Christ’s love.

We would be so honored to welcome all past students, families, and friends back home on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Join us for Mass at 4:00 PM, followed by a joyful reception as we celebrate our shared legacy and the beautiful growth of our parish and school community.

Come pray where you once prayed, walk the halls that helped shape you, and reconnect with the community that will always be part of your story.

We can’t wait to welcome you home. ❤️
