Greater Somerville Church

Greater Somerville Church Welcome to Greater Somerville Church, we love you with the love of Jesus Christ; because Great is he who is with in us so we can love the world around us!

Jesus didn't just heal people. He changed their position.

He took the broken and gave them purpose. He took the rejected and gave them belonging. He took those who were lost and gave them a new direction.

When Jesus enters your life, the goal isn't simply to make you feel better. He calls you into a new position, a new identity, and a new way of living.

Don't just celebrate what God brought you out of. Ask Him what He is calling you into.

Sobriety is God’s doing, not mine.

Freedom from what once controlled you is not something to take credit for. It is a reminder of God’s grace, strength, and transforming power.

When God changes your life, give Him the glory. Stay humble, stay committed, and remember where He brought you from.

What you could not overcome on your own, God gave you the grace to overcome.

We forget who we serve when we’re offended.

Sometimes one hurtful word, betrayal, or disappointment can make us react in ways that don't reflect our faith. But following Christ means choosing forgiveness, grace, and self-control even when our feelings are telling us otherwise.

Don’t let someone else’s actions pull you away from the character God is building in you. Remember who you represent. Respond with wisdom, love, and grace.

Preaching isn’t always easy to hear.

Sometimes God’s Word will comfort you, but sometimes it will confront you. It may challenge your choices, expose what needs to change, and call you into greater obedience.

Don’t reject a message simply because it makes you uncomfortable. Let God’s truth correct you, shape you, and help you grow.

The message that challenges you today may be the message that transforms your life tomorrow.

Don’t listen to itchy-eared preachers.

Not every message that makes you feel good is a message that will help you grow. The Bible warns us about people who tell us what we want to hear instead of teaching God’s truth.

Test every message against Scripture. Seek truth over comfort, conviction over applause, and God’s Word over popular opinion.

Don’t follow a preacher simply because the message sounds good. Follow Christ and let His Word be your standard.
