Good morning—and Happy New Year!

This is the final big push for flood recovery help, and support is needed all week. Our community is in rebuild mode, and this is a powerful way to show up for neighbors who were hit hard.

The work isn’t glamorous—it’s muddy, physical, and real—but many hands truly make light work. Please consider volunteering and sharing this with your circles.

👉 Sign up, donate, offer trade skills or resources, or report flood damage at:
https://farmerfrog.org/

We’re also grateful for military volunteers from Indiana and Illinois, who arrived this week to support recovery efforts. They’re putting years of incident-response training into action—experience that will also strengthen preparedness for future emergencies in the PNW. What a gift!
🕘 Two daily shifts: 9–12 and 12–3
🎯 Goal: 100 volunteers per day

Volunteers will be coordinated by the United States Volunteers Joint Services Command. You’re welcome to show up, but signing up ahead of time helps the team plan and deploy people effectively.

Thank you for showing up for our community—your presence matters more than you know.

This article, from The Connect Journal, is a lovely reminder of what really matters in youth ministry: honoring depth and faithfulness in our youth, and how honoring small groups and seemingly small moments can lead to large transformations.

By Rev. Billie Jo Wicks Editor’s Note: This is the second in a series of articles that come from the Formation Co-Op, a ministry of the Network in partnership with the ELCA and funded by the …

Today we learned about bravery and Queen Esther at Jump into the Story, with help from Paige the Owl (played by Pastor Tom from Furst Presbyterian Church). It was a lovely message “for such a time as this.”

We had 113 students jump into the story with us today, and expect more the rest of the week. Thank you to everyone who helped-out and who trusted their children with us. One of the stories of new beginnings we heard today was in a video with Scribbles the Squirrel. Check it out! Tomorrow we'll be back to hear stories of bravery and courage.

Scribble the Squirrel reminds us that God gave each of us a beginning, and sometimes a new beginning (like Abram/Abraham) and created each of us to be unique...

We're thrilled that over 115 kids are going to jump into the story with us this week at Vacation Bible School! We have four churches collaborating to bring our kiddos a fun-filled week of stories, singing, service, games, and opportunities to work on their own story-telling skills. We'll be posting videos (staring our pastors, filmed and edited by Nathan Nieuwsma), and other pictures throughout the week for those of you who are as excited as we are.

The Association of White Lutherans for Racial Justice wishes you and yours a blessed Resurrection Sunday - and also acknowledges that things may not seem so joyful right now. YET, we are still and Easter people, and we have a God who intimately understands us.

He is risen! He is risen indeed, alleluia!
