First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown

First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown Sunday Worship Service is at 10:00 a.m. The First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown is a church with a difference. Our church is not only old; it is open.

Our sanctuary is a historical landmark for the whole community. We have grown up with Smithtown, but with blessings come responsibilities. Our buildings are open seven days a week for worship and service. Community organizations utilize our facilities as much as our congregation does. We see ourselves as more than that old church on the corner. We believe we are on the corner of the love of God an

d the love of neighbor. Faith in Jesus Christ is extremely important to us. We believe that faith is not only spoken but lived. We are an open church, not only open to the community, but open to those on a journey. Ours is a welcoming family that has a big heart for those who are hurting, have lost their way and want to start over. We are certainly not perfect, and, for that reason, we cherish God's love and grace. We seek to welcome others as we ourselves have been welcomed by Jesus Christ. We are aware that many people are moving into our community and relocating to this area. We are excited to share the good news of the gospel. Our doors are open. Come visit one of our services and taste our hospitality. Together we may discover more to life on this wonderful journey of faith.

Dear friends,
God bless all who sing and make melody to the Lord!

God bless all our choirs (Sanctuary, Handbell, Children's, and our new Children's Bells)!

And God bless our music director/organist/choral director, Dr. Pablo Lavandera, and Marci Deakins, a veteran handbell ringer, as she organizes this new handbell choir, organized for children and adults who really want to learn to play beginning songs with the little colored or black and white handbells.

Good things are happening at First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown! Praise the Lord!

Loving and Gracious God, thank you for your gift of music and especially the gift of our singing. Thank you for the hymns and songs that have been composed and sung to your glory that we and other congregations today still enjoy in our worship. May you truly be glorified in our songs of praise. May we be healed, strengthened and filled with your joy. Thank you for setting us free in Christ from whatever binds us—all our fears and sadness, all our worries and anxiety. May we be stirred to sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to each other, making melody to you in our hearts. And may we sing to you as long as we live, sing praise to you while we have being. In your Son’s name we pray. Amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Karen

Good afternoon, friends!
It feels like summer today in Saint James, NY. I am catching up on my blog posts. Here is my message from First Presbyterian Church of Smithtown for Trinity Sunday on May 31, 2026:

https://pastorkaren.org/2026/06/04/i-am-with-you-always/

Almighty God, thank you for sending your Son, who would model a righteous life and teach us what we need to know, before commissioning us to “Go” and make disciples. Thank you for those who have been faithful to that commission, willing to live intentionally, even sacrificially, to serve Christ, leaving a comfortable existence to reveal your loving, gracious presence to humanity. Thank you for the sisters who have a burden for the next generation in the West Side of San Antonio, a burden that have led them to become Spurs fans and host neighborhood watch parties. Help us to heed your Son’s Great Commission, whatever that means for each of our lives and for our church, and be obedient to Christ’s teachings. Remind us often of the promise of your abiding presence—that you are with us always, even to the end of the age. In the name of our Triune God we pray. Amen.

Blessings of joy and peace,

Pastor Karen
