What happens when life hits harder than you expected?
Maybe you thought you were doing better.
Then something happened.
A setback. A loss. A disappointment. Pressure you did not see coming.
And suddenly an old reaction showed back up.
You wanted to isolate. Control everything. Shut down. Numb out. Run. Pretend you were fine.
That does not mean all your progress disappeared.
Tonight at Navigate Freedom, we are talking about resilience.
Not the kind that says, “Just be stronger.”
The kind that learns how to stay rooted in Christ when life gets hard.
Series 7: Managing Challenges and Setbacks
Lesson 13: Resilience Building | Adversity
Tonight, we will explore:
• What does pressure reveal about me?
• Does struggling mean I am not resilient?
• How do I respond differently when an old pattern shows back up?
Biblical Scripture
“Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.”
Colossians 2:6-7, NASB1995
A tree cannot control the storm.
What matters is where its roots are.
Life may shake you. It may expose something. It may even change you.
But it does not get to decide who you are or where you go next.
Sometimes resilience looks less like standing tall and more like recognizing what is happening, returning to truth, reaching for help, and taking the next faithful step. That is exactly the movement of the lesson’s R.O.O.T. Check: Recognize, Orient to Truth, Open, Take the Next Step.
Come as you are.
You do not need to prove you are strong.
You do not need to pretend the storm did not hurt.
Come sit with people who are learning how to stay rooted, tell the truth, receive help, and keep moving forward with Christ.
