When Jacob was about to die, he told Joseph, "The LORD has been my Shepherd all my life." But the literal Hebrew translation of what he said was, "The Lord has been my FRIEND all my life." How is Jesus to you? A consultant you call when you need advice? A lifeline you call when you're in trouble? Or is He your shepherd and your friend?
