If you have felt there's some repetition these last few weeks, undefined says, "Congrats!" You're onto something.

From the loaves and the fish to Peter sinking to the Canaanite woman today, Jesus is instructing us to ASK for what we need. It's not that he doesn't already know, but he loves us too much to violate our free will or give freedom when we don't request it. Today is an excellent day to reflect upon this question: "What healing do I really need?" and ask God, with great persistence and faith, to provide.

Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was assumed, body and soul, into heavenly glory.
⁣
The Assumption is a sign of hope for all who follow Christ. Mary's glorification points us toward the promise of the resurrection and reminds us that our true home is with Christ in heaven.

Today we celebrate the life and martyrdom of St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Franciscan priest who gave the ultimate witness of Christ's love, offering his own life to spare another's while imprisoned in Auschwitz. He had been sent to the camp for his ministry protecting displaced people and publishing religious materials critical of the N**i regime.

St. Maximilian Kolbe had a deep devotion to Mary, and his profound love of the Blessed Mother gave him strength in the darkest times, including his imprisonment and eventual martyrdom.
⁣
The example of his life challenges each of us to live with courage, forgive generously, and place the needs of others before our own.
⁣
St. Maximilian Kolbe is one of the sixteen saints depicted on the dome of the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In today's Gospel, Jesus walks out onto the water and tells the disciples to take courage. His presence is stronger than the storm. He invites us to trust in Him through the storms of life. Even when our faith falters, Jesus does not abandon us. He reaches out His hand, lifts us up, and invites us to trust Him again.

The Diocese of Knoxville supports its Catholic schools by promoting the development of the whole child, enabling them to grow and prosper spiritually, academically, emotionally and socially. It is the foundational beginning of their faith walk with Jesus Christ. Catholic schools rely greatly on the generosity of their community for supplemental tuition support so that every child who wishes to receive a Catholic education receive one.
