Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church This page is updated with the latest activities and announcements for the Shepherd of the Valley Luth

We are a congregation that believes in the Triune God: the Father who has created all things and loves us, Jesus the Son who has given us forgiveness of our sins by his sacrifice on the cross, and the Holy Spirit who works faith in us through God's Word and the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We rely on the love of Jesus Christ, and we want to share it with our guests, our community, and our world.

May he (the Lord God) give us the desire to do his will in everything and to obey all the commands, decrees, and regulations that he gave our ancestors. 1Kings 8:58

What the wicked dreads will overtake him; what the righteous desire will be granted. Ask God to give you the desire to do His will and to obey Him.

Prayer: LORD, you are near to all who call on You in truth. You fulfill the desires of those who fear You. Hear my cry and save me. In your mercy, grant me the desire to do your will and obey your commands. Amen

Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city. Proverbs 16:32

The Apostle Paul used "patient" as the first word used to describe "love" and as one of the "fruits of the Spirit." It is wisdom that gives a person patience. It is patience that prevents one from being easily annoyed. As God's holy people, your great patience will be a testimony of Christ's love. Are you a patient person?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, forgive be for being irritable and easily angered. As you have shown great patience with me, may I also show that same love to those around me. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends. Proverbs 16:28

A perverse person stirs up trouble, always trying to make another respond in anger. A godly person speaks the truth in love. To whom do you give your ear to listen? It affects your heart.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, by your grace, may I be blameless before you. May I seek to do what is right and speak the truth from my heart. Guard my lips that I may not slander my neighbor nor cast no slur on my fellowman. May I despise a vile man but honor those who fear You. Amen

A wise man’s heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction. Proverbs 16:23

It is out of the overflow of the heart that the mouth speaks. If your heart is full of good things, those around you will be blessed. Listen to your speech and it will tell you the truth about what is in your heart.

Prayer: Create in me a pure heart O God. May I flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on Your Name. May I not have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments but be kind to everyone and not resentful. Amen

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name(than Jesus)under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

Jesus Christ paid the price for your sin on the cross. Only by calling on the name of Jesus the Son of God, there is life and forgiveness. You can be rescued from eternal condemnation.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I believe Jesus Christ shed his blood for my transgressions. Forgive me for my sins, make me pure and holy. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:42

To stand firm in the faith and not be carried away by false doctrine; be devoted to the teaching of God's Word, committed to the body of Christ (the church), steadfast in the sacraments and faithful in prayer.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may I not let my heart envy sinners, but may I always be zealous for the fear of the LORD. Amen

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

By the Spirit's power you can put to death the misdeeds of the body. (Rom 8:13) You are strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being. (Eph 3:16) By the Spirit's power you can have an abundance of hope even in the midst of dire circumstances. (Rom 15:13) God is enough for your every trouble. Do you believe this?

Prayer: God of hope, I ask that you would fill me with all joy and peace as I trust in you, so that I may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

In his pride the wicked does not seek God; in all his thoughts there is no room for the Almighty. The LORD detests all the proud of heart but gives grace to the humble. Will you humble yourself and seek God's grace?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I admit that I have been proud and at times obstinate. Forgive me for stubborn and rebellious heart that refuses to bend to your will. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal. Psalm 119:160

John Stott said: "We must allow the Word of God to confront us, to disturb our security, to undermine our complacency and to overthrow our patterns of thought and behavior." Happy are those who hear the word of God and obey it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, do not sn**ch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. May I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. Amen

So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull. Here they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle. John 19:16-18

Jesus bore your sins in his body on the cross. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. Repent and be baptized, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.

Prayer: Holy and Righteous God, I acknowledge that I have sinned and justly deserve eternal punishment. Thank you that Jesus bore my sins in his body on the cross. Amen
